I've got a TON of these in different sizes in my tackle box and we switch out or bucktails with soft shads for these when the bluefish and Spanish Mackerel (see pics below) come out in the summer. These little spoons do a great job. I wish the hooks were a little more substantial but you can switch them out. We used Mustads when we did.
Pros
  • These will catch fish.
Cons
  • They are expensive and for the price of these spoons they should have stronger hooks, see the pic below. Not a con as much as an FYI, they are pretty light and when we troll with these we speed up to around 6 knots. At this speed the spoons tend to rise so make sure you put a #2 planer in your set up to keep them down. We even use a #3 planer behind the boat to get the spoons to run just off the bottom.

Will catch, bonito, spanish mackerel, bluefish, mahi mahi, king mackerel (run it deep with a planer)

  • Can twist line if you do not have a good swivel in front of a leader.
