Super Spooks are a classic for topwater stripers. I remove the split rings and trebles and replace them with stouter gear. I usually do not replace both belly hooks - only the front one, and I don't see a reduction in hook up rate. I have been experimenting with using inline hooks instead of trebles, but do think it takes some messing around to preserve the walk-the-dog action. These lures are great for striped bass and blues of all sizes.

This lure is so easy to walk, great bait. My only recommendation would be to change the hooks, They seem to rust out quickly.

The action is great and casting distance is fine, but if you plan on using this for bass in the northeast, replace the hooks with something a little sturdier

Effortless walk-the-dog action. Stock hooks are ok to fish with (even though I change mine). Finish is excellent. Three trebles instead of two. Loud thumping rattles. Casting distance could be better.

I still think these are the best on the market! Prefer the ones that run quiet...... no clacker or ball bearing...... these rock

It’s great for low tide in a bay. It attracts lots of attention. Caught numerous blues and stripers with it. Clear, bone, black shiners are my favorite
