I use this belt to hold my leather sheath with my two pliers, as well as my tuna spike. It holds up perfect with it just being around my waist. You can also use it on your shorts or pants with a belt slot.

i boat in the NE. and i use this belt over my grundens bibs so i still have a place for my pliers and knife....
I have a 36-38in waist and with a couple of layers on it still fits well.
