Good, easy to use MDF
January 2, 2020
I use this with the 1242 Garmin and a 18" HD+ radar. The 942 is used primarily for the fish finder/sonar functions and the 1242 for chart. I've been very happy with this unit over the last 3 years. When you use it for fish finding be sure to turn the gain down to between 40% and 50% otherwise you'll get false positive readings because the default gain is set closer to 75% or more. I am sure this can be auto set, I haven't figured that out yet, but the manual adjustment takes 5 seconds. These MDFs have a TON of features and can be frustrating if, like me, you don't take the time to learn how to use most/all of the functions.
Pros
  • Tons of features
Cons
  • If you don't learn to use it, this MDF can be frustrating to use.
