Fish Catching Machine!!
May 9, 2022
These hooks not only perform but hold up. Fish for a solid 5 days and never had a hook fail, even when hooking large “bull reds”. These hooks made me a believer. Hundreds of fish and all were hooked perfectly and no failures in the hooks.
Pros
  • Performance
  • Quality
Cons
  • Eyes of the hooks are small tough to get on a pompano rig with 20 pound fluro.

Not inline hooks
July 15, 2021
Good quality hook. But they are not inline. I had good hook up ratio but definitely had several occasions where fish were gut hooked while live lining Alwives for catfish and hybrid stripers. I put the hooks in a vise to remove the off set. Reduced the gut hooking. Did not eliminate.

Great Hook for smaller swim or worm baits
April 4, 2021
While in Naples, Florida over the winter months, fish get spinner bait and hard bait size. Often, the large worm baits will not get strikes and one has to move to lighter swim or worm baits fished quite slow. These smaller Gamakatsu Nautilus Circle hooks work well using 4" wacky worm techniques in very weedy areas.
Pros
  • In my experience this hook style gives many more jaw and mouth hookups than the conventional bass hooks. Great for smaller largemouth bass and for using shrimp as a bait for peacock bass.
Cons
  • You have to use a 2-3 foot fluorocarbon leader in daytime conditions and especially in areas of heavy fishing pressure.

Great hooks for Wacky Techniques
April 4, 2021
I've started to use circle hooks for freshwater fishing after using them ion a guided saltwater offshore trip. I noted we had little-to-no gut hookup! I used the thought process in freshwater and once again using the 3/0 Gamakatsu Nautilus Circle Hooks (GNCH), minimal gut hooking while large mouth fishing.
Pros
  • The 3/0 sized GNCHs work extremely well for wacky hooking on the Yamamoto thick worms.
Cons
  • NONE
