A lighter, more finesse-oriented jerkbait rod designed with a little extra length for longer casts and smaller baits. The longer rod also helps protect lighter line when you're fishing extremely clear water, but don't let that light tip fool you. It will handle a surprising range of baits and give you total control even with the largest smallies.

An $8.00 oversize packaging charge applies to this item as it ships in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

Great jerk bait rod
July 20, 2016
This rod is just amazing. I got the 6-9 jerk bait rod. I was a little worried that the moderate fast bend was not going to be good for jerk baits, but oh man was I wrong. This rod has just the right action to work your jerk baits and top waters but when you set the hook it has some give so that the hook don't just rip right through the fishes mouth. Took this rod up to rainy lake and this thing was great. It was strong enought to hold up to gaint pike up to 35 inches that I hooked going for smallmouth. If you need a jerk bait rod for smallmouth then this is the one and I don't work for g loomis or any thing. It is just a great rod.
Pros
  • Great rod
  • Great tip

Unbeatable Power

When G Loomis went to make a Smallmouth rod, they had a lot to consider. Strong pull, current, quick aggresive runs, and the need to pull fish out of cover quickly. They took all this into consideration and created a monster.

I fish the 6' 3" med heavy rod as my main rod for both smallies and largemouth now. Light jigs, weightless plastics, and small jerkbaits are a breeze to fish with it. The rod has enough power to horse huge LMB out of heavy cover, coerce smallmouth away from rocks, and has even caught catfish up to 10 lbs. This rod never disappoints and since they come in a little cheaper than the IMX series, I think they are a value buy if the type of fishing you do lends to one of these technique specific rods.

Pros
  • Backbone
  • Solid Construction
  • Sensitive
  • Looks Good

Great Light Action Rod
September 9, 2013
I use it with a Quantum Tour Elite tpi-b 20, filled with 8 lb sniper and Mono or flouro leaders depending on the lure. Used it this last weekend with a Lucky Craft gunfish 75 and nailed a nice 3 pounder on a top water bite. I use nothing but G. Loomis rods and love the dropshot magnum lite and the Bronzeback rods.
Pros
  • Light, fast, responsive with the strength to get the job done.
Cons
  • Had to file and sand the handle where the cork meets the plastic until it was perfectly smooth, a little hand work makes a production rod feel like a custom!
