The G-Loomis IMX SURF rods is a series of extremely powerful, high-modulus, light weight spinning rods designed specifically for the long-range casts required to successfully fish the surf. These rods range from 8? to 11?, with line-ratings varying from 12- to 40-pound test and lure ratings from 1/2 to 6-ounces. A durable and unique new handle design features our new "sure-grip technology" and a unique "micro-adjust" reel seat that allows you to set your reel position according to the length of your arms, with a full 5-inches of adjustment range. Another exciting feature on these lightweight pieces of surf artillery is the new "tangle-proof" Fuji K-Frame Alconite guide system. The frames on these guides lean forward so line flows freely and efficiently. Even if the line comes off the spool in a wide arc, it won't catch or wrap on the frame. Whether you fish monofilament or Power Pro, you'll be in total control and able to achieve maximum casting distance with this new technology. It's an aggressive, no-holds-barred, "reach out there and get you some" series of surf rods for the true fanatics of the beach crowd and it doesn't matter if you fish from the rocks, the docks, the sand or the reef... it?s bombs away!

An $8.00 oversize packaging charge applies to this item as it ships in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

The Best!

The Best rod I have ever casted!
Bought this rod to cast small lures to Albies and Bonito from the beach and also bigger plugs for Stripers. It is light weight with a comfortable grip that allows you to cast repeatedly without fatigue. G Loomis did this right! Well worth the $$$.

GREAT FOR CASTING
October 19, 2017
THIS ROD MAKES IT EASY TO REACH OUT TO THOSE FEEDING STRIPERS. I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY IT FROM THE SURF NEXT TRIP. I WAS MOST SURPRISED BY THE SENSITIVITY WHEN DRAGGING A LEAD BAIT ALONG THE BOTTOM. I COULD READ THE BOTTOM UNLIKE BEFORE. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS ROD.
Pros
  • CASTING
  • SENSITIVITY
  • PLENTY OF BACKBONE
Cons
  • JUST A LITTLE HEAVY OR STIFF AT THE END, LIKE TO SAMPLE THE MEDIUM ACTION (1324)

Awesome rod!!!

This is, by far, my all time favorite rod that I use off of the beach. It is as light as a feather and paired with a VS200, I can get the cast out further than most people from the surf. This is an awesome rod that will have no problem bringing in big fish onto the beach, and it is great whether you're bait fishing or throwing plugs!
Pros
  • Great warranty
Cons
  • Cost

IMX 10' 1-3oz
September 8, 2014
At first glance I was a little suspect if the rod could handle big fish because of how light and thin the rod is. I have been fishing my IMX on and off the last 3 seasons in the back bays around my house and the ocean. It handled cocktail blues and keeper sized stripers very well and the rod felt like there was still more power left if I needed it. On one of my days off this past summer, some bigger blues, 8-12 lbers, starting blitzing. I landed 4 of them and I felt the rods true power, I could feel it bend to the bottom half of the rod for the reserve power I felt before. The rod also loads very easily and casts well throughout the 1-3oz range. 1 and 3 oz lures cut down on distance, but 2 1/4 to 2 3/8 felt like the sweet spot for maximum distance. Atomizers and SS little neck poppers would go about 100 to 125 yards. I also like the adjustable reel seat and after a few adjustments I found the sweet spot for my arm length and casting style. I love my IMX and recommend it to everyone.
