A real bass fisherman never, but never, admitted using a spinning rod, unless it was for panfish, and even then it was iffy. But times are CHANGING and so are techniques. First out of the closet were the die-hard smallmouth anglers. They favored the spinning rod because they used lighter line and smaller lures to fool those super cautious brown bass. Then, as finesse fishing came into play, more and more anglers found the spinning rod to be the PERFECT SOLUTION for the clear water lakes where spotted bass and smallmouths abound. The only negative was nobody ever really offered the nice, fast-action rods that the casting crowd enjoyed. That was until we introduced the Spin Jig Series. It's the unique blend of DYNAMIC tapers and super-sensitive materials that helped make these the rod of choice for serious light line anglers. Grubs, small worms, hair jigs, split shot rigs, "mojo" rigs... you name it, the spin jig rod is a great option.

Ultralight Saltwater Spinning Rod
March 3, 2019
Very light! Seems a bit delicate, but that’s what I wanted. I had no reservations buying a G -Loomis as I have NEVER had a single issue with customer service (i.e, sending in a broken rod). I’m using it for saltwater inshore species (Specks, Reds, Flounder, etc.) With the longer rod length, I can cast very light Speck Rigs 50yds. plus.
Pros
  • Light. Longer rod length is preferable to saltwater fishing applications. Incredible sensitivity and action. G-Loomis warranty and customer service.
Cons
  • Pricey. Fragile. But hey, it?s an ultralight! That paired with G-Loomis unsurpassed warranty and customer service = no worries! That?s why I paid the few extra bucks for!

Great River Rod
November 9, 2013
I have been fishing this rod now for approximately 4 months and couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. It is a very sensitive rod with a surprising amount of backbone. I have caught a largemouth just shy of 4 pounds and a couple pike around 30" by accident and had no problem getting them in the boat. Where I think this rod shines the most is wading the rivers for smallies. With the 5'4" length and the fast action, the rod is great for short very accurate casts around logs and behind big rocks where smallies live.
Pros
  • casting accuracy
  • strength
  • very sensitive
