We went a little overboard with the breadth of Escape Series models so we've redesigned, improved and simplified the entire line. The rods have similar actions as before though they'll be a little smoother through the ferrule and stronger throughout. Fuji guides, and these newly redesigned rods now come with a rod tube!

Great Ultralight Travel Rod Perfect for Backpacking
April 19, 2020
This rod has made multiple trips to the Beartooths in Montana for Alpine Lake trout fishing as well as trips to Western NC and the Smokies. Rod is a nice medium fast action allowing the rod to load well when casting light spinners. Packs really nice with its durable rod tube. Rod is very comfortable, sensitive and a lot of fun to fish with. For an ultralight, it has enough backbone for those times when you hook into those rare trophy size trout that make the trip so memorable.
Pros
  • Light
  • Nice action
  • Packs easily
  • Nice Rod Tube
  • Smooth throughout the action
  • Sensitive
  • Casts great
Cons
  • Not cheap

Fantastic travel/backcountry rod
March 18, 2017
I've had several 3 piece spinning rods over the years, for travel and also hiking to remote locations. This is by far the best one I've used. Excellent construction and function. I got the 15-30 lb line rated spinning model. This is my first G Loomis, but after using it, I will probably stick with them for all future rods.
Pros
  • Quality construction and operation -- fishes well. The price is fair for what you get. Comes with a hard case/rod tube as well as a rod sock with 3 individual sections for each part of the rod. G Loomis also has a pretty good warranty deal, should you ever need it, but I don't expect that I ever will.
Cons
  • None

G-loomis backcountry trout rod
July 9, 2016
I purchased this rod specifically for fishing high mountain lakes and it he's performed flawlessly. I can pitch a 1/16 ounce spinner a country mile, and a 13 in cutthroat plays like a steelhead on this little beauty. Rod is everything I wanted and delivery was timely.
Pros
  • Lightweight, compact, fun to use
Cons
  • Expensive, that being said I don't mind paying a higher price for true quality and an American made product

Great rod
December 31, 2015
I have many G.Loomis rods in my collection and this is built just as nice as all the others, the travel case is nice and solid, however I like my gear to also look nice and the color not so great (Burgundy is for wine and gold is for jewelry?) and no other color options are available..
Pros
  • very nice build and as always tackle direct had it at my door step quick - just in time for my trip to the keys.
Cons
  • color is horrible glad its only a travel rod.

Heavy action rod
January 9, 2014
I needed a heavy action rod for the Rio Negra and this G Lomis fits the bill. It is a little pricey, but the only 30# descent pack rod I could find.

One Hot Rod! Puts ul lures way out. Smooth, sleek, light, and great hard case with cloth bag. My favorite rod. Can feel every lure movement and strikes. I love it!

Excellent rod spoilt by loose joints
July 6, 2013
My son and I have one of these each and have used the rods on 5 trips to Thailand angling for giant snakeheads. The three piece rods are really handy for taking on the airplane. The reel seat fits and locks my 201 size bait casting reel perfectly and the finish of the rods is very good. Both casting and action and power of the rod when playing a fish up to 6kg have been excellent excellent. The one thing that lets the rod down and is disappointing for a rod in this price range, is that the joints are quite loose and both of us have had the top two sections follow the lure out on the cast on several occasions. I have had to resort to using electrical tape to keep them fixed in place. They would get 5 stars save for this fault.

Compact strong rods pleasure to use with the set my friend and i have purchased you can fish anywhere in the world with confidence just received MLS 10 in mail professionally packed and delivered to Australia sure it won;t take long to cover the new rod in scales and slime. Some fish caught with other rods include Kingfish - Murray cod-Barramundy-ect -ect
Cons
  • The reel seat when new will come undone but when used a few times it stays tight . With last purchase 2X MLS 10 rods the free Glumis Hat promo was not Delivered and my Email ignored other wise very happy fisherman.
