Great rod, my one and only rod for the kayak so far. Handles fish well, loads and cast well and very sensative. Love the rod and exactly what I expected from a Loomis rod. Only down side, reel seat has had play from day 1 of unwrapping.

My first G Loomis rod
April 22, 2020
Bought the casting version to throw topwater for specks. Was delivered today and I used it for about an hour so far. I was hoping I wouldn't like it any more than the rods Ive been using for years, but It's a sweet casting rod, and the feel and sensitivity is definitely better than my usual rods that run about $80 less.
Like the other reviewer, I heard a few clicks the first couple of times the rod flexed, but Ive heard that before with new rods and I'm hoping it's just the guides settling in

Very Fragile for their Cost
March 15, 2020
I’ve had two of these rods in 7’6” and 8’ both break the tips off within 1 week of owning them.
Pros
  • Light
  • Good balance
  • Grip section Is ergonomic
  • Great sensitivity
Cons
  • Pricey and they seem to be very fragile. I would not recommend this rod if you fish from a kayak, you might be fine on a SUP.

Great all around rod
April 24, 2018
Excellent rod for inshore saltwater fishing. I use it heavily, the rod is very durable and a simple rinse with freshwater after use is all that is needed to keep it looking new. Great for feeling the small bites on smaller species like snapper, but enough backbone to bring in the larger reds, snook, etc. 7'0, medium action is a great all around choice.
Pros
  • Looks great
  • Lightweight
  • Multispecies

G-Loomis E6X-843S-MGM

Meh. Out of the box, the rod feels extremely light weight and looks great...However, there is a clicking noise coming from the rod that I cannot locate. I'm not sure if there is a guide that is loose or if this is flexing/cracking in the blank somewhere. If I was still within the 30 day period for G Loomis' "Guaranteed Love" , I probably would have returned it, but at this point, oh well. I'll keep it on the boat for the rare occasion I want to through something live.

It will cast a live bait setup with popping or barrel cork a country mile without stressing the bait much. The softness in that portion of flex is great for live bait or heavier hard lures, but that's about it. It lacks the tip sensitivity for use with plastics but I have other setups for that.

AWESOME inshore saltwater rod
November 18, 2015
I was looking for a rod to tackle all aspects of the fall run in the new england this year - false albacore, bonita, stripers, and gator blues - this rod handled them all with ease. it has the tip to throw smaller jigs and plastics to finicky albies and the backbone to tame gators. quickly became the favorite rod in my arsenal, paired with a stradic 4k. lightweight, solid fishing weapon.
Pros
  • light, fast tip, strong backbone, good px,
Cons
  • would like to see a little more cork on the grip above the reel seat

Hi, which shimano saltwater reel would be best suite for the G.Loomis E6X-966S-MF (Stradic CI4+ 4000 or Saragosa 5000/6000) ? I mostly fish from Jetty for Red, Smack, Speckled Trout, Sheephead, sometimes AmberJack so I would like to have a combo that is able to handle these fishes. Plan to use poppin corks for fishing so 8' would be beneficial.

The saragosa 5000 would pair the best with the loomis rod
