The Fox KRD023 IGFA XT Special 7ft 20-30 lb is the prefect light tackle tournament stick. This rod performs at peak level for those line classes while having the diversity in the design to fish various techniques. No matter if you are trolling out of an outrigger, dropping back to a raised billfish, or casting a live bait to a fining marlin, this rod has the rod tip action, the butt power, and the guide configuration to get those jobs done brilliantly.

The rod tip is light enough to handle 20 lb. lines, yet stiff enough to fish baits out of the outriggers without the tip getting wrapped, a problem with whippy tipped rods. The power comes on nicely down the blank to allow an angler to lean on 20 and 30lb lines without stressing the line and snapping off the fish.

The long 12" front grip allows an angler to get both hands on the rod above the reel for pulling a stubborn fish from the deep. The aluminum hooded, graphite bodied reel seats offer a great combination of light weight and heavy duty performance. Built with 9 guides and a the tip sporting large diameters, the act of casting a big bait, or dropping back to a teased fish is accomplished without the mishaps of large Bimini knots, and wind on leaders getting "stuck" or "hung up"? as they tend to do with small diameter guides. This high number of guides lessens the pounds / square inch of pressure along the line to guide contact points which further reduces line breakage potential, while at the same time produces an action in the blank that better disperses the pressure along its length making this 5 piece travel rod perform like a well tuned one piece blank.

More Features and Specifications

The Fox IGFA Travel Rod Series was designed by Bill Boyce of TV's IGFA Angler's Digest, who has spent the last two decades fishing light tackle, 20 and 30lb billfish tournaments all over the world. As a custom rod builder and designer, he has teamed with FOX to create the Fox IGFA Travel Rod Series, which is perfect for travelling tournament anglers who are tired of airline hassles, long rod tubes, and excess baggage costs.
