Worked Well!

These items work out well on our trip to Florida. We used them off a bridge and were able to turn scraps into a crab dinner. Well worth the price.
Pros
  • Bring some rope to raise and lower the net.
  • Close the s-hook with pliers to prevent the line from coming off.
  • Wrap the s-hook with duct tape to prevent tangling.

You get what you pay for
July 22, 2019
Saw a few people using these types of crab traps and it was working better than our heavy duty standard traps, so decided to try these out. Glad I bought six as we lost 2 during the first trip out with these traps. As stated in the headline, you get what you pay for, as the lines broke off numerous times during the retrieve and we even lost two of the traps because the tri-strings all broke off as we pulled the traps up. Afterwards, we had to carefully pull the rest up and used stronger ropes to reinforce them. In addition to the strings, the rings were easily bendable that we had to constantly bend them back to the circular shape to keep the bait in the middle. The traps work great as we had a lot of success and caught lots of crabs, but will need to reinforce the lines and rings so they will not break and bend so easily next time.
Pros
  • Cheap and for some reason, crabs go to them more than our other heavy duty traps using the same bait around the same area. Because we caught lots of crabs with these traps, i gave an additional star.
Cons
  • The lines broke off easily and the dual rings bent every time it was pulled up. Lost 2 traps due to the lines breaking as we retrieved the traps.

Simple But Effective - Incomplete Setup
April 11, 2019
Just 18" in Diameter, but works well on Crawdads - with some slight modifications. I had to bend the top hook to tie on a cord. And had to add a small piece of foam for a float to keep the top hook and attachment lines up off of the trap. And, had to add a huge diaper pin in the bottom center to attach bait and a weight. And, had to sew a permanent storage bag. Other than that, it's a great crawdad net, ready to go!

The crab nets I bought are of good quality and priced at half of what I would have paid at big sporting goods stores. Would recommend them to anyone.

Is the top ring a complete welded round circle or does it have a loop and hooked into it to close the top circle (see pic)? Also when will they be in stock at the store?
1 Answer
These specific crab nets are not welded all the way around. There is a loop where they are connected. It goes based upon customer order. They could be available within 3-5 business days from when the order is placed.
