The FINS 40G Composite Superline Braided Fishing Line is designed for saltwater and freshwater fishing. It is a braided line. Over the years FINS has learned that no single style of superline will be universally liked. That's why they have developed a line-up of situational braids, to offer anglers a choice depending on their situation and personal preferences.

Great for trolling for trout. Only 15 pound test /2 pound thickness I could find. Just caught 9 pound Brown in December so I know it works

Best Braid On The Market
August 26, 2019
I've used them all, for hours upon hours. This is the best braid I've found. It's landed redfish, trout, stripers, coho salmon, and many more. The guy who says it frayed by itself was likely fishing with a rod that had a bad guide (facepalm). This line is magnificent add resilient.
Pros
  • Smoothness
  • Casting
  • Durability
Cons
  • Price

Do not buy!
June 20, 2018
This braid frays by itself in any sort of rocky or abrasive waters fished. Two of my buddies bought this stuff online from Wall***t and where throwing temper tantrums after using it FOR THE FIRST TIME! It was literally frayed from the first cast on both their rods. I would just go with Power Pro or Daiwa line if you want super slick, well worth the price difference.
Pros
  • My friends got to use my reels for the day because of this line!
Cons
  • Frays seemingly by itself. potential loss of fish. My friends never cleaned the reels they used (that's just wrong)

A super thin new braid
August 6, 2016
I saw this product at the Prividence fishing show and bought a spool. I have been fishing with Daiwa "More than 12" braid sold only in Japan and love it, but at better than $70 for a little over 100m.... It's rediculously expensive!
Because I fish a minimum of 4 days a week in the summer I feel I've given this a good test and am very happy. The hi-vis is perfect for me.
Pros
  • Color, mono equivalent is super low, no stretch, seems to hold up well, price is good.
Cons
  • If you fish on a head boat, don't get tangled up with someone else!

Thicker than 12lb mono, but awesome!
April 23, 2016
This line is thicker than the stated 12lb mono equivalent, but it's unbelievably smooth. I've tested out nearly every brand of braid and this is by far the smoothest I've used. It almost feels like it's made of silk. It doesn't have that "logging chain" feel that most braids have. Also the color gets darker when it gets wet, so should actually retain cooler pretty well. The line fishes very well and is really quiet on the guides. Abrasion resistance is on par with that of most braids, and it holds knots like the FG and uni-knot securely without slipping. Tried the 85lb for my bottom fishing rig and ended up spooling all of my inshore spinning reels with the 45lb.
Pros
  • Silky smooth, thin, quiet
Cons
  • Thicker than stated, but not by much. Might matter more with lower test lines on light spinning reels.

Pricey stuff.....considering its actual diamter 2x what is stated on the package.
February 20, 2016
Out of the package. Nothing truly remarkable. Their claim of being .004 mm is bogus. Took tons of measurements. To get to .004 i may as well be cutting it. I wasn't going to risk damage to my calipers to get below .006. Other braids that I tested next to it were accurate to their claims. ..6kg gliss.. 10lb maxxima (which is about the same diamter as the 40g. was accurate to it's packaging Suffix 832 6lb was also pretty much spot on. Fins 40G was off by 100%

Don't buy this line thinking it is an ultra light braid.
I have not fished this line yet. Just an observation.
Cons
  • Stated in review.

85 lb. 40G
December 9, 2015
Haven't had a chance to fish it yet, however put it on two reels. This line is very smooth. It measured within .02" of what it stated on the box. I had it tested and it broke at 97 lbs. with the box stating 98. So far I'm impressed enough that I bought three more 1500 yard spools in three different tests. I'll know more when I fish it but it looks great.
Pros
  • Very thin, smooth, strong.
Cons
  • Expensive
