Zebco Not FIN NOR
December 9, 2019
Bought 2 of the 30 size reels when the first came out, was REALLY excited. This compares to nothing fin nor makes, its total BS. There is no drag seal, metal parts are sub par, and worst of all it wraps line like crap. Maybe if you used this in brackish water and fresh you could have a long happy life, but in saltwater there is no way this reel will last. It handles braid like crap and light mono. However if you are using 20lb floro as main line you will like this reel. I tried 9 different lines some braid 2 floro and a couple.mono lines, all of them except 1 i had issues with unless you under spool your reel, but with a 30 you need the cap. Just spend the extra 40 bucks and get a lethal. We catch everything from flounder to tuna on our lethals and catch big sharks and cow tuna on lethal 100s, JUST GET A LETHAL.
Pros
  • Light weight
  • Comfortable
  • Less expensive than competetion
Cons
  • Poor build quality
  • Poor line management
  • No drag seal
  • Reel seat flex

Great Reel That Doesn’t Break The Bank!

Its been few months since purchase two of 30 series and I’m blowed away on the durability of these reels. I have them both paired up with ugly sticks inshore specials (7ft medium) rods. I’m an avid weekend fishing guy and my main target are redfish, blackdrum and trout. I highly recommend this rod and reel set up!
Pros
  • Great Price!
  • Well Built!
  • Corrosion Resistant!
  • Smooth Retrieval!
Cons
  • Not one yet.....

Pleasant surprise

I owend Fin Nor reels in the psst and remembered them fondly. They were a dream to use, so when I heard that these were were not all metal construction I was hesitant to buy them.I'm glad I did. I bought two of these and use them for both fresh and inshore saltwater fishing. My only regret is that I didn't get a larger size for the second reel. They are smooth, sturdy and very well made. No they are not the same quality as the old Fin Nor but they also are one third the price. I will definitely buy another when I finally get a larger reel for saltwater.
