Great Rod for the Money
September 11, 2018
The rod is a plain Jane but that's about where it ends. I mounted a Fin-Not LTL20-II on the FSGC-7030 rod and loaded it with 30 lb backing and a 30 lb top shot of Power-Pro braid. Trolled for Mahi and Tuna off NJ recently and the bite has been good. The rod has a good backbone and loads up quick. You can put plenty of pressure on with the rod and reel combo. I have old Fin-Nor Tycoons that I love but this outfit is great.

Squid Boy
Pros
  • Great rod with lots of backbone.
Cons
  • Not the prettiest one out there but tough as nails.

Great Rod

Works great big fan of the fin-nor products
Pros
  • Works great had some braided line on it was a bit worried as it was overrated for the rod, but worked well. Held up well for an offshore fishing trip :-)
Cons
  • I would prefer some machined marine-grade aluminum, for reel seats vs the graphite
