Have a HMGIN76M-FS and cant decide the better pairing; a PENN Fierce III 3000 or 4000 (spooled w/ #20 PowerPro).  The 3000 feels a little light of balanced, the 4000 a bit heavy of balanced.  Targeting east end LI back bays, inlets and coves, using jig heads w/ soft plastics.  I dont mind the weight but wish to avoid unnecessary fatigue.  Which reel would you lean towards?  Thx u.
1 Answer
For your fishing application, I would recommend a Penn FRCIII3000 Fierce III Spinning Reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-frciii3000-fierce-iii-spinning-reel.html This reel would be a little lighter in weight and would not be as fatiguing to use over time compared to a Penn Fierce III 4000 size reel. This would be ideal for inshore fishing scenarios. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Would this pair well with a 2500 battle or conflict in medium light
2 Answers
Hello Noah,

The battle or the conflict will pair well with the 7 foot medium light fenwick. It will balance out nicely and have a nice responsive feel.

Submitted by: Bernie - TackleDirect Customer Service on December 28, 2021
Yes. It would be a nice, light action, saltwater set up.

Would the medium light split grip paired with a 2k bg with 10lb braid be a god finesse rod for 1-10 lb tarpon in open water and redfish trout and snook nothing over 35 inches in structure
1 Answer
Medium light could work however tarpon are super hard fighters and you may want to take the step up to a medium rod to make sure you have some backbone for the fight. The BG 2000 however will be a really good match for this rod.

Is the blank of the HMG inshore the same as the normal HMG? I’m used to the HMG in Medium power and I’m wondering if I should go with the HMG inshore in Medium or MH.
1 Answer
Fenwick does list both HMG and HMG inshore as graphite carbon bound blanks

Would this rod be a good match for a Cabo 50 or 60 reel ? Thanks
1 Answer
Depending on what rod model you are looking into, there are a wide variety to choose from, Generally i would recommend no more than a 4000 or 5000 size reel for inshore applications, and judging this rod as being on the light side for inshore rods i would pair this rod with a 3000 or 4000 size reel,

If you are looking into the Heavy or XH rated inshore rods then a Cabo 50 or 60 would be fine

Is this a comparable rod to the new battalion 2 inshore rods? Or should I wait for the penn set up for my 2500 battle 3?
1 Answer
I would say these two rods are fairly comparable, these rods will be more sensitive than the Battalion II Inshore rods, where as the Penn will have a much tougher stiffer feel. Same priced rod, both will work great for any inshore applications you wish to pursue!
