A few years ago the folks at Engel designed a new ice chest. The new cooler was not just an improvement on the old models, but a brand new concept, designed from the ground up to re-define what an ice chest could be.

Take a close look at what makes an Engel DeepBlue ice chest the number one rated ice chest in the country. Rotationally-molded of seamless polyethylene, it's tough enough to stand up to a hungry Grizzly bear. (In fact, it's an approved bear-resistant container.) A full two-inches of dense polyurethane foam is injected top, bottom and sides, to provide 8-10 days of cold-keeping capability. But this is just the start...see all the features.

Heavy duty cooler
January 7, 2020
My wife bought me one of these for Xmas a few years ago. It's the most heavy duty cooler I've ever used. It'll keep ice for days. I don't know if it's better than a Yeti but I don't think it's any worse either. It's heavy bu the cord handles make it easier to carry.
Pros
  • Keeps ice cold for days.
Cons
  • It's heavy.

Amazed
August 20, 2015
Amazed at the ice retention. Purchased ice at 3pm on a Wednesday (10lb block 35lb cube) filled the cooler with meat and drinks for a week on the boat the following Thursday had about 45% of ice still in the cooler. Never had to purchase ice during the entire vacation. Past coolers I'd be replenishing ice every 2 days.
Pros
  • Ice retention
  • Vacuum seal
  • Handles
  • Durability
Cons
  • Weight (when filled) 2 persons needed
  • Latches occasionally feel loose

Great Cooler at a competitive price

The Engel coolers are awesome. In my opinion they are better than Yeti and dont carry the Yeti price tag. I have no problem holding ice in my 240 for a week and that with constantly opening it to throw fish in. I use it as a coffin box on my 25ft CC and it fits perfect.

Poor product

Label says stays cold 8 to 10 days only if you put 3 bags of ice in it a day. Lid is not air tight recommend trying a Yeti.
