Drone Planers let you get your lure down really deep without huge sinkers. In the trolling position your lure goes down at a 45º angle. When a fish is hooked the Drone Planer returns to the surface, allowing you to fight your fish without a load of lead on your line.

Well made and effective, though a bear to try and trip to recover without a fish on.
Seems to trip by accident much less than the Sea Striker models do at slower speeds.

The #2 works great for keeping your lines at the depth you want with out having to use in-line weights. These reduce the drag when bring the fish in due to the re-set action of the planer. Can some types re-set without any fish strikes but it's not hard to re-set them and get back in action.

Have had success fishing several lines for crappie ,walleye and white bass. I like the ease and speed you can redeploy a line after hooking a fish.

Drone got lure down with out a lot of heavy drag. fish from kayak and waverunner, drone works for bottom fish also.

The design is very good at getting the cut herring down where the fish were marked at about 40 ft. Greatly out performed the various plastic divers we were using on silver salmon.

Does this attach to a separate monofilament line? I.E. you clip it to your main trolling line and drop it over the side to get your lure down deep?
I am sharking and want a planer to get bait and lure down deep for trolling. Just need some specifics on how this works logistically. I do not have a planer rod or downrigger. Just want something simple i can connect to side of the boat.

Depending on the size of the planer, you can use them inline or you could run one off of a cleat.
