Designed with input from leading Southeastern local guides and tackle experts, the Daiwa TD SOL Inshore Spinning Rods are well built to suit the backwater specialist. Designed for common Florida and Gulf Coast techniques used to target species like snook, tarpon, redish, and speckled trout, the TD SOL is certainly not limited to just Southeastern fisheries. Inshore anglers of the Northeast will find models ideal for anything from back bay flounder jigging to slinging plugs and metals for striped bass and blues. Built on blanks constructed from Daiwa's High Volume Fiber (HVF) carbon technology, the TD SOL achieves the superior strength and ideal taper for inshore applications while keeping the blank thin and lightweight for comfortable fishing. Also outfitted with Daiwa's X45 Technology, these rods are designed using a 45 degree bias construction that prevents ovalization and twisting of the blank for greater hoop strength under heavy loads. The rods are fitted with cork or EVA grips according to angler preference depending on models. A convenient and comfortable Fuji Backstop Reel Seat prevents premature loosening of the reel from regular use. Equipped with Fuji Tangle-Free K-Guides, anglers can cast freely without hang-ups or tangles when using braided lines, while the Faz-Lite guide inserts offer smooth casting and are highly resistant to cracking or falling out.

Good Solid Rod
November 16, 2021
Received the rod not too long ago. Haven't taken it out on the water but by the feel of it, you can already tell it's a well built solid rod. Got the ML. It is a bit stiffer though, feels more like a medium power. Overall, very happy with the rod.

Gorgeous but stiffer than expected
August 31, 2021
I bought the 70MFS and it is one of if not the prettiest rod I own. You don't really get from the pictures the deep blue of the rod itself. It is very well balanced and light. The components and construction are excellent. My only issue is with the action. The Medium I received is stiffer than some/most of my Medium Heavy rods. My best comparable reference is a Shimano Teremar 7' MH X-fast Spinning and it has more "bendiness" when casting. And it's also rated to be x2 the lure weight. I don't think it hurts the casting distance much but it is not an easy casting rod for anything below the top of it's recommended range (3/4oz.). I have to really whip it. The plus side of it is that it feels like it has enough backbone to lift slot trout and possibly reds from the jetties if you don't have a net. I don't recommend it but it feels very solid. Hook setting is not an issue at all. Lastly, I tend to grip with the reel toward the back part of my hand with the reel post between my middle or last two fingers. It is very comfortable with the amount of cork in the front section for a more forward grip.

Overall I do recommend it...if you go in aware of the stiffness for a Medium rated rod. Part of me wishes I would have ordered the ML or even an L but I still really like it and it will be relegated to heavier spoons and jigs. The is the possibility mine is mismarked and could actually be a MH but that's not likely in my opinion.
Pros
  • Construction is great
  • Components are top tier
  • Aesthetics are GORGEOUS!
  • Comfortable for my grip style
Cons
  • Stiffer than expected in the Medium gauge.
  • Hard to find in stores to get a good feel before purchasing.

Awesome Inshore Rod
May 11, 2021
My go to rod for inshore fishing, whether it be stripped bass or halibut, this rod held up when a big bat ray took a swimbait.

The rod is surprisingly very strong, lets you cast small presentations a mile, is light so you can cast all day, and it looks amazing.
Pros
  • Light, Strong

Can you confirm the lure rating for the TDSOL70MHFS model? The Daiwa website says its 15-30lb line rating, for lures 1/2-2oz.

This is different than the 12-20lb line , and 3/8-1oz rating in this website

Thanks

1 Answer
Andy. Yep, looks like our line rating is off. It should be 15-30. We'll get that changed. The lure rating is correct on the website.

Thanks.

How sensitive is the 7'6" M rod? I'm looking for a rod that isn't too stiff
1 Answer
The 7' has a fast action tip so it will be rather sensitive especially using the HVF technology that Daiwa put into this rod.

Should I use a medium or medium heavy fast on a Diawa BG 3000 for saltwater fishing in SC?
1 Answer
This reel is going to pair best with the Daiwa TDSOL70MFS TD SOL Inshore Spinning Rod it matches the line rating the best and will handle most inshore species well. If you are looking to throw heavier weights and jigs then I would use the medium heavy.
