Daiwa Tatula freshwater baitcasting reels are designed to meet the durability and performance requirements of the pro angler. The Tatula series offers a rugged gear train that is fully supported within a rigid aluminum housing. With four different gear ratios to choose from, there's options for powerful bottom fishing retrieval or to bring a crankbait sailing along near the surface. Up front, a unique, hybrid-design level wind combines the durability of a standard level wind with the casting performance of Daiwa's T-Wing aperture that reduces line friction.

TackleDirect has several models of the Tatula baitcaster for going after bass, northern pike, catfish and other popular freshwater game. Each one has a strong but light one-piece aluminum frame and an eight-bearing system that are placed for optimal performance. Pick up a Tatula and spin the handle - the ultra-smooth feel of precision and quality is unmistakable. The result is longer distance and better accuracy on all your casts without extra effort. Call the TackleDirect experts or watch our product video to learn more about the Tatula baitcast reel.

I didn't like the operation of the reel. I prefer Shimano reels

Solid and smooth. I don't see much of a difference with the T-Wing system. Overall, a reel that I would recommend to have in your arsenal.

Best mid priced baitcaster on the market byfar. The drag is super smooth and it cast worms a mile. The wider line guide helps improve casting a lot

Is it possible to put a power handle on these models ? For party boat fluking off NJ....which rods would you recommend ?

Here is the link for the power handle: https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-dch100pad-100mm-baitcaster-reel-1-3oz-custom-power-handle.html Also the St.Croix Tidemaster inshore in the 7 foot 6 inch mh or h and fast action rod would match up well with that reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-tic76mhf-tidemaster-inshore-casting-rod.html

Could I for pike with 50lb braid using this reel? I would be throwing lures that weigh 3/8oz to 1½oz.
1 Answers
This reel should be sufficient for pike fishing so long as the fish aren't exceeding the 10 to 15 lb range. If you are targeting very large, adult pike I would suggest something a little larger. Perhaps a Daiwa Lexa 300 or Shimano Tranx 300.

Did Daiwa design this reel for heavy saltwater use ?

Reduan, the Daiwa Tatula was not designed for heavy saltwater use, it was designed as a fresh water casting reel.
