Great medium sized electric reel
April 30, 2020
I did one deep drop trip out of Point Pleasant without an electric reel. For two days i regretted not having an electric reel since we were fishing in 750" of water with 4lbs of lead. Great trip and immediately afterwards I purchased this reel and used it for several years now and it has been flawless. I use small AGM batteries for power and get about a full days of use on a deep drop trip. Note after about 3 years of hard use on deep drop trips I did need to open up the reel and service the the reel due to salt intrusion (i expected this from all the salt spray the reel got over the years). It was not any harder to service than a non electric conventional reel.

Could this reel be used for Jersey Shore surf fishing......as well as boat fishing for seabass, ling, etc.
1 Answer
This reel is not meant to be used form the surf. It is designed moreso for deep-dropping in deep water. It can definitely be used for sea bass and ling from a boat, but is not needed, given that these fish are usually fished for in depths of less than 200 ft. at most times of the year.

Between this reel and the TB 750 which one has the aluminum body? Are they the same winding power?
1 Answer
Both reels have aluminum frames, the difference is cosmetic so the winding power is the same. Daiwa just lowered the pricing in order to promote the Tanacom reels.

can you compare the 750 to the 750 bull I see the winding power is the same?
1 Answer
The Tanacom 750's winding power is one pound more. But, also the 750 is a little faster than the 750 Bull, with 16.5" per crank and the Bull is 10.5" per crank. The gear ration on the Bull 750 is slightly smaller than the gear ration on the Tanacom 750 (2.26:1 to 2.3:1). Also, the Tanacom 750 Bull has more electronic features available to the user opposed to the Tanacom 750.

You will need a deep drop boat rod, line for the reel, hooks, and a lot of weights. These are the basics.
