Daiwa Tanacom Dendoh Offshore Deep Drop Rods are an update to the current SALTIGA DD Series with new cosmetics, as well as an Alps Roller Swivel Top Guide, Alps Aluminum Butt End, and a silver anodized bent-butt for scratch resistance. They feature Daiwa's powerful Glatech blank construction where uni-directional fiberglass is combined with inner and outer layers of graphite, making an incredibly resilient blank with the backbone and lifting power to control and move strong fish. The quality of construction and components make it easy to offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty. This is a deep drop rod that you can count on to winch tilefish, snapper, and grouper from the depths for a long time to come.

These rods are available with 2 different butt lengths. "DD" models come with a 22.6in ALPS aluminum curved butt (model number AUBS4CKX)."DDL" models come with a 28.6in ALPS aluminum curved butt (model number AUB4CKX).

Great Rod
August 2, 2022
I now need this type of rod to help me fish because of 3 shoulder surgeries that left me with not enough strength to continue regular deep-sea fishing. I can still enjoy wielding the reel as the rod holes the fish in the rod holder. Great save for me.

Awesome rod and reasonable price

Very happy with these Diawa rods. Only comment I will share is that the roller in the swivel roller tip does not roll as it should even with a fair amount of pressure. I loosened the screw on each side of the roller just a smidge, and I mean just a smidge. But that was enough to allow the roller to spin with minimal pressure. Someone is over tightening this roller during assembly. Maybe Alps, maybe Diawa. But Diawa should have caught this.
Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Roller tip needs adjustment
  • Guides not the best quality but more than adequate for a weekend warrior. Better guides would increase cost for sure.

Perfect rod paired with the Tanacom 1000
June 25, 2019
I put the Tanacom 1000 on this rod for deep dropping primarly Golden Tilefish. This rod is perfect for it. The tip is light enough to see the bite of a single black belly rose fish but strong enough to hold two 20lb golden tilefish at a time.
Pros
  • Light tip but very strong

I have a international 30 w real what's the best size rod combination and how do I know it is without buying several different rods?
1 Answer
How do you plane on using this setup? The reel is for trolling and the rod is for deep dropping. Are you trolling or deep dropping? Also where and what are you fishing for?

I am current looking to get a rod to pair with a kraigen banax 1000 but Im not sure which one would be best. I would be using it for deep dropping for snowy grouper, yellow edge, wreck fish, tiles, queens, all of the above.

Located in south Florida. With this given information maybe you could help me out. Thanks

1 Answer
Hi Walker, I would recommend a Daiwa SEABG60XH-DDL Seaborg Dendoh Deep Drop Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-seabg60xh-ddl-seaborg-dendoh-deep-drop-rod.html This would pair well with a Banax Kaigen 1000 electric reel and be ideal for Deep Drop fishing for wreckfish, groupers, and tilefish applications. For the line weight rating, is this for mono, braid or both?

Thank you!

1 Answer
Hello Monica,

The line ratings for the Daiwa Tanacom Dendoh deep drop rods are in monofilament line rating. For braid multiply the monofilament rating by 2.

Difference in length from standard butt length to the extra long butt? Benefits of each? Planning to deep drop
1 Answer
Hi Daniel, According to Daiwa, The Daiwa Tanacom Dendoh Offshore Deep Drop Rod DDL Models are approximately 6-7 inches longer than the DD models. The Advantage of the DDL model is just to fit the length of the rod holder on the boat. The DDL model would not be recommended for those with shorter rod holders. However if used on those shorter length holder, the rod could be jostled out of position while under way and thusly lost. Those with hull-through or bottom-less rod holders would use the DDL for more stability though they may be more cumbersome to remove the rod holder if the angler should need to do so. There is no sensitivity or fighting power advantage over the other. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Beside deep dropping can these rods be trolled

If yes which should i go for , the heavy or medium heavy?

1 Answer
Hi Adnan, The Daiwa Tanacom Dendoh Offshore Deep Drop Rods can be used for trolling but would need to be left in the rod holder at all times when reeling due to the long rod butt. Depending on the size of the fish your targeting I would recommend the Daiwa TNB56HF-DD Tanacom Dendoh Offshore Deep Drop Rod. However since its currently sold out I would also recommend the Penn ALLBW50100C60BB Ally Boat Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-allbw50100c60bb-ally-boat-rod.html This rod also has a bent butt and would be ideal for your trolling applications. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Is this rod good with tiagra 50w lrs. For wahoo trolling?
1 Answer
The rods are meant for deep drop fishing but it can work, the one with the rollers will work best when trolling for wahoo. The Tiagra 50w LRS will pair with that rod.
