Solid Deep Drop Setup
May 19, 2019
The rod and reel together make for a decent deep drop setup that can’t be beat for the price. I am very pleased with the product I received. I was trying to locate an extra pier cable for a backup and haven’t been successful which is the reason for the 4 star rating.
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Decent rod
  • Quick retrieve
Cons
  • Plastic housing
  • Extra wiring harness hard to find

Will this handle swordfish?
1 Answer
Chris,

The Daiwa Tanacom 1000 / TNB56HF-DDL combo is not meant for swordfish.  It's a deep drop combo for tilefish, grouper, rosefish and other deep dwellers of similar size.  If your looking for a swordfish combo then the Daiwa Marine Power Swordfish and Deep Drop Combo (DAI-2511) will do the trick.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

what kind of electric end or plug does the cable come with?  I have a receptacle on my boat, but I don't know how to describe it.
1 Answer
Seth,

The Daiwa Tanacom 1000 electric reel comes with a cable that has battery clips at one end (red/black) and a plug to connect to the reel at the other end.  The reel needs to be connected to a 12V power source or marine battery (stand alone).  Not recommended to be connected directly to your boat.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
