The Daiwa Tanacom 1000 can be used from shore as long as you are kayaking or somehow getting your bait out to where the fish are.  It can handle fish up to 90 ponds, but better suited for fish 50 pounds or less.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

I looked up the amps in the Tanacom 1000 manual. Under no load its 3Amps,  stall is 10Amps, and under a Max load it is 30Amps

Most people use marine grade batteries you can find at any autoparts store.

We can surely spool up the reel for you prior to shipment. Just add the braid you would like to go with to your order and include a note in the comments section during checkout to have the reel spooled up.

The Tanacom 1000 and Tanacom 750 are extremely similar reels, but the biggest differences will be size and line capacity. Best to treat the 750 as a narrow spool version of the 1000. For 80lb braid, the 1000 will be able to hold roughly an additional 300 yards, which would make it ideal for hitting your really deep bottom fishing numbers for tilefish, queen snapper, and other deep dwellers. The 750 size is ideal if you are wanting to get into deep dropping with an electric reel while still holding the setup in hand rather than fishing it directly out of a rod holder since it is about 10oz lighter than the 1000. Max drag, gear ratio, the English reading LCD display, and an oversized line guide are found on both models, making each model quite versatile for both deep dropping and kite fishing. The Tanacom 1000 would not be ideal for pulling dredges.

12 Volt system (12-16.8 V)

We do not advise using the Tanacom for Swordfish. The motor is simply not powerful enough and would be prone to overheating and failure. Electric reels suitable for daytime Swords are the Shimano Beastmaster, LP's, or Hooker Electric reels.

I'd recommend the Daiwa Saltiga Dendoh Deep Drop Rod. Model number SA-B 66HF-DD.

Hello Lee, I got into contact with Diawa and they do not have a exact lifting weight, They have a max drag weight of 48 pounds. The only difference between the Tanacom 1000 and the Bull 1000 is that the bull has a Japanese user interface.

You can attach it to a 12V car charger (should last full 8-12 hours), 12V marine battery, or plug it into the boats power source. We do not sell the power sources or the cords.

This is a case where you get more for your money by spending less. The Tanacom 1000 is the way to go. Both reels have the same line capacity, drag, retrieve rate, and motor. The Bull's readout is in Japanese, where the 1000 is in English!
