Great rod for the price - versatile

I picked one of these up after breaking a boat rod and needing to replace it in a time crunch. Years later, this rod still keeps finding its way back into rotation. It'll cast a really nice range of lure weights and has plenty of power once hooked into a fish.

Over the years, I've used this rod for a variety of applications. I kept it in my car in case I drove past busting fish - can cast a decent distance and often put me on fish. Currently, I have this rigged up with a Daiwa BG 5000 and a treble hook for snagging bunker. It excels at this application, and before the regulations changed (can't snag & drop anymore), this setup accounted for a lot of big bass and blues. It's by far the least expensive rig on the boat, but it always delivers.

Very nice rods. Bought 4 rods to be used for inshore trolling for bluefish, Spanish mackerel, king macs and stripers. They have worked perfect!!

A lot for a little

I'll admit that I'm a Daiwa fan and this rod does not disappoint. You get a lot of features in the rod at a great price point. I've looked for may rods at this price and nothing really comes close. I caught a bunch of bonito last weekend with this rod and made easy work of them.

I purchased four sealine boat rods about four years ago and would like two more of the same model. That model number may not be produced anymore..(slq70mhf ). There is a similar rod and I'd like to know if the entire butt end is nylon or just the gimbal section. The foregrip on the rods that I have is foam, of course, but is angled or beveled. I'd like to know if the new model pictured here is basically the same thing. Thank you.

The Diawa Sealine Boat rod is a full foam gripped rod with a nylon gimbal section, the top section of the foam grip is tapered down from the reel seat towards the first guide.
