The new Daiwa Saltist Trolling Rods are designed with Southeastern trolling techniques in mind but the rods easily cross over into many other fisheries. Each Saltist rod is built with quality ALPS Roller Guide tips and strippers for years of rugged use. A unique triangle shaped "Powerlift Grip" can take heavy pressures with comfort. A stylish aluminum gimbal is decorated with laser etched Daiwa logo. With a removable butt cap the rods can be fished in or out of a gimbal. The rods are built in 5'6" and 6' lengths. With three different power and line ratings, each model is tailored for each troller's needs. A limited 5-Year Warranty insures that these rods are built for the long haul. Looking to pair these with Shimano Speedmaster 25's to use trolling for school bluefin, reels are spooled up with 80lb braid, are the roller guides sealed on the sides or can the braid slide off and get stuck?

1 Answer
The rollers are not "sealed". There is a chance the braid could slip off and get caught between the frame and the rollers.

what would you suggest as a rod for trolling mahi, tuna, mackerel and even some wahoo trolling on a talica 25 2 speed?

The wahoo trolling would be pulling a joe schute or yo zuri bonitas and dtx minnows

1 Answer
Vinny,

The Daiwa Saltist Trolling rod STT56MHF will pair nicely with the Shimano Talica 25II for targeting kingfish, mahi, and wahoo.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

is this rod suitable for trolling umbrella rigs with wire line for stripers and blues?
1 Answer
These are more geared towards sailfish, kings, and dolphin trolling. I would check out the Tsunami Trophy Wire Line Casting Rods for a solid, affordable wireline rod.
