The Daiwa Saltist Inshore Spinning Rods are a versatile series of rods that anglers up and down the coast will find suitable for an enormous variety of species and applications. The Saltist Inshore makes the perfect "all around boat rod" for anglers who target different species with different techniques throughout their season. Northeast fisherman will find these rods perfect for jigging bucktails for ocean fluke and seabass, while Florida anglers will love them for live lining over reefs for grouper, snapper, jacks, and more. Featuring blanks made with Daiwa's High Volume Fiber (HVF) Technology, these rods are constructed with a low-resin, high modulus carbon graphite material with more fibers per unit area than other rods in its class. This method of construction results in superior strength, lighter weight, and enhanced sensitivity. All models are equipped with Fuji aluminum oxide guides and are fitted with comfortable split-grip EVA handles.

Features:

  • High Modulus carbon graphite blanks with Daiwa exclusive HVF low-resin material
  • EVA Split-Grip Handle
  • Fuji Aluminum Oxide guides
  • Fuji reel seat
  • Limited 5 Year Warranty

Is this a good rod to fish on a boat for yellowtail? And if so, which size do you recommend?
1 Answer
Hi Josh, The Daiwa Saltist Inshore Spinning Rods would be a little light for your fishing application. Instead I would recommend a Daiwa PRTWN76HFS Proteus-WN Saltwater Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-prtwn76hfs-proteus-wn-saltwater-spinning-rod.html This rod has plenty of backbone needed to land small and large Yellowtail and would be ideal for your fishing application. What is the lure ratings for the 7 foot Heavy model?
1 Answer
Tom, Here is what we've been told by Daiwa;

"These models feature an HVF graphite construction blank which is extremely durable and capable of handling a variety of lure weights depending on the fishing application.

Optimal Casting weight range will be approximately:

 SIN70HXS – ¾-4 oz

 These ranges can be exceeded during a bottom/reef fishing application wherein the angler is dropping down to a wreck or reef, for that application add an additional 1-2 oz to the rating above."

Are there lure weight ratings in these rods? Specifically the 6'6"MH variant.
1 Answer
Hi Caleb, According to Daiwa, The Saltist Inshore models feature an HVF graphite construction blank that is extremely durable and well capable of handling an array of lure weights. So a specified weight range is not provided. However, the optimal casting weight range for the SIN66MHXS model will be 1/4 to 1oz. This rod would be well able, for bottom fishing use, with up to 3 oz lure weights. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
