Love this reel! Recently got one and use it for fishing in the northeast. Lots of power, strong steady
retrieve .. very, very smooth I wanted to lighten the load and this will be my all around go to reel for haddock,
Pollock, Red fish, Blues, Stripers, Sea Bass and Porgies. It has the power to be used on larger fish but it's so
light and comfortable to use .. very impressive for it's size. Love it!!
Pros
  • Small, light, very smooth

Tremendous Reel

Paired this with a Shimano Type J and its phenomenal for vertical jigging / bottom fishing. Got a black fin tuna on it and numerous kings. Brought in a 12lb king with ease with this reel. Takes everything I throw at it. Type J is a must for this reel and jigging.
Pros
  • 250 yards of line @ 40lb daiwa j braid
Cons

Hello, I own the Diawa Saltiga 15H and the 35HA can you tell me what size reel cover these reels take?
1 Answer
Hi Will, We recommend the TackleDirect Reel neoprene reel cover in the medium size for both reels ( https://www.tackledirect.com/tackledirect-custom-conventional-neoprene-reel-covers.html ), or the Boone soft reel cover in the medium reel size ( https://www.tackledirect.com/boone-soft-reel-covers.html ). the Daiwa D-vec Tactical clear view conventional reel cover would be great but we only have sizes that fit the 35HA and larger. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!

I want to purchase the 15H model and fill it to capicity (like the specs say) with 550/yds braid 30 lbs, but want a multi color braid or depth metered braid. What brand would you recommend I purchase from your site? I am not seeing any 30lb metered brand in multi color more than 300yds. Also, do you guys spool line for your online customers? Thanks.

Will the 10H & 15H reel bases fit into larger conventional "boat" rod reel seats, or are they better suited for slimmer baitcasting type reel seats?
1 Answer
These reels are best suited for the smaller conventional boat poles and bait caster rods.

what line brand/ lb test would you use on the 15h for the northeast bass/blues/tog? do you need to put mono first then the braid?
1 Answer
I, personally, would use 30lb test of Power Pro spectra in the moss green. I feel as though the Power Pro Slick is not as durable as the original Power Pro and for this specific reel there is not reason to go with the Slick. The original Power Pro will suffice perfectly. http://www.tackledirect.com/powerpro-braided-spectra-fiber-fishing-line-moss-green.html You do not need to put mono backing on first, you can tie the braid directly on to the spool and just put a small piece of tape (electrical is best or hockey stick grip tape) on the knot to keep the line from slipping on the reel spool. But, sometimes, for example if the spool calls for 340 yards, you can purchase 300 yard spool and use mono backing to fill the reel opposed to spending the money on a 500 yard spool. But, it is not called for.

How much wider is the 15H spool compared to the 10 H spool. Which is closest in width to the Shimano Trinidad 14A?
1 Answer
The 10 and the 15 are both very similar in size, the 15 is just a bit bigger. The Shimano Trinidad 14 is wider than both of those reels by a good amount.
