Nice for ultralight application
December 1, 2021
Although it’s very light and compact, the reel isn’t as smooth as I would like it to be when compared to something like the Daiwa Revros. I use this primarily for trout fishing and have it paired up with an ultralight 5’6” Okuma Celilo rod. Very well balanced.

Small Sturdy Reel
March 22, 2021
For a small reel, this feels sturdy. Gearing is smooth holds a decent amount of line. I would prefer a taller shallow spool to help with casting light line. I spooled about half with braid and topped off with a supple flouro and that helped. Still has a place in my UL gear since it performs so well otherwise. Pulled in a 5lb 13oz rainbow on 4lb test on its second ever cast! The drag was perfect. Easy to adjust with an even feel.
Pros
  • Smooth gearing, sturdy feel, light weight, good drag
Cons
  • Would prefer a longer shallower spool

Great reel
June 29, 2020
I purchases 2 of these last winter for ice season and love the weight and feel of them. My only complaint keeping it from 5 star is in cold weather they freeze up like many other reels do.
Pros
  • Smaller than a 1000 size but bigger than the 500.
  • Cork handle feels great.
  • Smooth operation.
  • More line capacity than a 500
Cons
  • Freezes up in the cold

Low quality for Daiwa
March 4, 2020
I bought two of these because I love Daiwa spinning reels, and wanted something smaller than my 1000 series reels. Unfortunately, I will probably give these away. These are not smooth operating reels at all. Nothing like the feel of Legalis or Revros. For this size and similar price, Mitchell is a much better feeling reel.
Pros
  • Size, appearance and price.
Cons
  • Feel is not smooth at all.
