The Daiwa Proteus-WN Saltwater Rods are class rated for both monofilament and braided lines and are perfectly suited for today's saltwater angler. The conventional rod blanks are built with the exclusive X45 Bias Graphite Fiber which reinforces the blank and prevents twisting when the rod loads up. The exclusive Braiding-X carbon fiber braiding technology provides added blank reinforcement further reducing blank twist. The spinning rod blanks incorporate High Volume Fiber (HVF) modulus carbon graphite construction with more volume of fibers and less resin which gives the rods a lightweight, strength and sensitivity. The D-VEC WINN Grip Tape provides a soft, comfortable, yet firm grip throughout the troubles of landing a tough saltwater gamefish. The solid and secure Fuji Reel Seats feature a woven insert. The blanks are wrapped with Fuji Fazlite Ring Guides.

Daiwa Proteus-WN Saltwater Rods Feature:

  • X45 Bias graphite construction

Very Versatile Rod...
June 23, 2022
Had this rod for over a year now without any issue. I've fished it inshore for Black Sea Bass and Ling and it handled both easily. Even a bonus 10lb Gator Blue couldn't defeat this rod with 30/30 test/leader combo. Will be putting my AVET JX G2 on it this year for a 2 day Tilefish trip where I plan to use it at night for Tuna. Will be using a 60/50 PR knotted combo. Loved the Win Grip so much that I've put it on all of my rods.
Pros
  • Versatile, light and extremely strong
Cons
  • none

Wanted a rod that I could use for heavy inshore, offshore jigging/bottom, and trolling... this bad boy checks all the boxes! Sensitive yet strong, feels great fighting fish, and looks great as well.

Very nice rod. Daiwa's line ratings are a bit confusing but I find this 76xhf to be ideal in the 50-60lb range. Needs at least 20 lb drag to bend the rod for you. Would not recommend this with 80lb line or trying to fish 35lbs of drag was not heavy enough to turn the head of 150lb tuna. Easy to pull hooks on 30lb fly lined fish.
Pros
  • Great quality for the price.
Cons
  • None. Just fish the right line/drag class each rod is meant for.

I paired this spinning rod (PRTWN76HFS) with a Penn TRQS7 and it performed flawlessly. I liked the rod so much I bought another one (PRTWN76HF) for use with a conventional setup. This is a quality rod that is light weight, very strong, and well priced.
