Redesigned for the 20-21 season, the Daiwa Proteus Boat Spinning Rods feature a rugged and powerful design to give you the upper hand over the toughest game fish. Designed with heavy lifting in mind, these long, fast action rods provide a super strong backbone for unmatched lifting power, and are a favorite among West Coast anglers for California yellowtail and bluefin tuna. Anglers in any fishery will benefit from having a Proteus on board any time where you need a little extra power to get big fish in the boat whether you're inshore or out in the deep. Built on blanks constructed from Daiwa's High Volume Fiber (HVF) carbon technology, the Proteus achieves the superior strength and rigidity needed for coastal applications while keeping the blank thin and lightweight for comfortable fishing. Also outfitted with Daiwa's X45 Technology, these rods are designed using a 45 degree bias construction that prevents ovalization and twisting of the blank for greater hoop strength under heavy loads. The blank construction is rounded out with Daiwa's Braiding-X design, where an outer layer of carbon tape is wrapped in a crossing diagonal pattern, giving the rod blank a striking appearance as well as improving power, operability, and sensitivity. All models are equipped Fuji FazLite Tangle Free K-Guides to prevent line tangles with braid and provide long accurate casts. The ultra durable EVA Grip provides a solid, infallible connection to the rod.

What size would you recommend for the shimano saragosa 8000?
1 Answer
Hi Robert, Depending on your fishing application, I would recommend a Daiwa PTB80HFS Proteus Boat Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-ptb80hfs-proteus-boat-spinning-rod.html This would pair well with a Shimano Saragosa SW 8000 for a variety of both inshore and offshore saltwater species. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

whats the luer ratio for the rods
1 Answer
Typically boat rods do not come with lure ratings. There are only two models listed on Daiwa's website that include the lure ratings. The prtb80hxfs is rated 20-85 grams and the prtb80xhfs is rated 60-115 grams. They can be found in this link: https://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/rods/proteus/index.html

I'm looking at the 8ft spinning. But it doesnt tell mono weight class. Can you tell me what the mono weight class would be, or compared to?
1 Answer
Daiwa J-Braid 50 lb test braid is equivalent to 12 lb mono, and 80 lb braid is equivalent to 20 lb mono.
