Offering the ultimate blend of power and precision useful in a variety of fisheries, the Daiwa Lexa TWS Baitcasting Reels mark the latest advancement in this iconic plus-sized baitcaster series. A staple in the big baitcaster market for years, the Lexa has always had a reputation for providing everything you could need in a heavy duty casting reel. The Lexa TWS includes all the great features anglers have come to love about the Lexa, and now features Daiwa's T-Wing System, a feature that has always been absent from previous iterations. Daiwa's signature T-Wing System reduces the constriction of line flow caused by traditional line guide/level wind systems by delivering a T-shaped line guide that is larger, wider, and less restrictive. TWS allows line to exit freely from the spool with minimal line angle and minimal friction, thereby reducing line noise and backlash, and delivering more accurate and longer casts. For next-level toughness and cranking power, these reels are equipped with a stainless steel pinion gear and high grade brass main gear, aluminum frame and side plate, and a swept power handle with a custom EVA knob for maximum torque. Whether you're slinging surface irons to West Coast Yellowtail, deep water bottom fishing, or big-bait fishing for freshwater giants, the Lexa TWS with T-Wing Levelwind is the perfect tool for the job.

Lexa T wing

This is the second Lexa T wing I own . Excellent reel, smooth strong and light. I use it for jigging and pier fishing. Casts a mile with no backlash. Definitely my new favorite reel.

Pros
  • Light weight and strong and smooth out the box. Smoother after break in.
Cons
  • Pricey.

I bought this reel specifically for jigging flutter spoons for Striped Bass in the Northeast. My first time out, I caught a 35 pound fish. The reel was up to the task. The fish made multiple runs away from the boat but the drag was smooth and the fish was boated in a few minutes. This is great low profile reel that can have many different applications. I recommend it highly.

A beast to catch monstrous fish

Anyone who needed a comparison to tatula 300 tws
Lexa feels like another league
But this does not mean tatula is worse, but infact it's as good as lexa in many ways but lexa is just better.
Added a picture to show that I own both of them
Used both on saltwater.
Cought mainly red snappers, job fish, GT, barracuda, and tons of grouper varying from different size and weights

Used on bottom fishing, jigging and casting.
Pros
  • Smooth
  • Very good drag
  • High quality
  • Great casting with used with a good length rod ofc
Cons
  • On the expensive side but totally worth

Different and amazing

I hear a lot of people saying it's over priced and it's just a prorex or tatula. It's really not. With all CRBBs and extra support on the pinion and main gear it really is a better design than the other reels mentioned for saltwater. It casts absolutely amazing. Multiple friends of mine caught bluefin 100-180lbs on theres. Its smoother and way lighter than my lexa hd and my tranx doesn't like salt so this will be replacing both.
Pros
  • Smoother
  • More gear support with double drive support on pinion
  • Much more drag
  • Incredibly lighter
  • Better design
  • Not disappointed with how much I spent on it, it outcasts all my other reels.

Holy crap

They legit did some magic with this thing, i opened it up and it's not even a lexa anymore! They added double the pinion support with one bearing on top and bottom. This explains why they used the brass main gear and stainless pinion, the gears are constantly in precise alignment even under pressure. They increased the yoke height making casts without popping back into gear easier. They got rid of the bearing and put a bushing under the drive shaft which is huge since that was the main bearing that would corrode in the old gen. They also have some of the best saltwater bearings you can find, the CRBBs.

Cast ability is crazy dude. It's the smoothest farthest casting reel I've ever used! Can cast a tady 45 100yards without even trying.

It held 350yards of 50lb Prospec.

Absolutely love this reel! Daiwa MAKE A 500!!!
Pros
  • They made it a saltwater beast of a reel!
Cons
  • I thought be the price was high when I first got it but holy cow they really packed it with the latest and greatest technology I've seen in baitcasters in the same size. Worth the money

Insane

It casts better, its lighter, its packed with a whole lot of gear support.
When i opened mine up my jaw dropped. Its a whole new reel and looks better suited for high pressure and saltwater use! Exellent job daiwa.

Never used a reel that casts this good, my 400 tw casts as well as my tranx 200 with same rod and lure. Absolutely blown away with its castability...
You gotta try this reel, its got a better design than pretty much every other reel in its class!

Anyone curious about capacity, it holds 350+yards of Berkeley prospec 50lb!
Pros
  • They really did improve it, its not just a paintjob difference. Its truly a lot better reel than previous generations without a doubt.
Cons
  • No 500 size, bummer.

Amazing design, they really took the lexa and added a ton of improvements other than just the t wing. I got a chance to open it and all I can say is wow. It's the best design I've seen in a reel. It has Shimanos X Ship with CRBBs, it has a higher yoke and yoke Clutch which makes it harder to pop back into gear while casting, and so much more. It's like a Shimano tranx with saltwater grade gears and bearings. There is so much I can say it would take forever to write up.

This reel is amazing, pick one up next to a lexa 400hd and you will see. 6oz lighter and much prettier.
Pros
  • Everything, saltwater designed reel!
Cons
  • No 500 size.

I was just wondering what type of jigging/casting rod would suit this reel for both inshore casting with swim baits and bottom fishing on a boat with live/fresh bait? Thanks
1 Answer
Hi John, We recommend looking at the Ocean Tackle Pitch Black Inshore conventional rods ( https://www.tackledirect.com/ocean-tackle-international-pitch-black-inshore-rods.html ), The Daiwa Proteus Inshore rods ( https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-proteus-inshore-rods.html ), or the ODM Frontier X Boat Rods ( https://www.tackledirect.com/odm-frontier-x-boat-rods.html ) with specs that satisfy your application. Thilo
from Jeju island asked:
February 1, 2022
For what baits is this reel made what is the start of grams it is useful and what is the max it can throw  ?

Best

1 Answer
Hi Thilo, According to Daiwa, The Lexa-TWs models were made for a variety of fishing lures and baits. They are mostly designed for their casting abilities so they would be advantageous for use when using large swimbaits, wake baits, and glide baits for largemouth bass. They are also appropriate for use in saltwater when fishing for aggressive species that hit lures. Optimal weights will be from 1/2 oz – 8oz for the 300 size models and Optimal weights will be from 1oz – 8oz for the 400 size models. There is no “max†lure weight, such specifications only exist for rods. Max lure weight is dependent upon the rods rating and the ability of the angler to control their cast. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Can daiwa make a 500 please. I have the 400 and its the best reel ive used from any brand out of the okuma komodos, shimano tranx, and older daiwa lexas. This reel in 500 size would absolutely   put an end to the shimano tranx 500 please daiwa!

Erick,

Daiwa currently does not have anything in the works for a 500 size Lexa TWS, but you might want to keep an eye out.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
