Great price for a pole but

Stick with Daiwa for freshwater applications. When the poles or reels go near saltwater they tend to not function as well, and break down.
Cons
  • not made for the abuse of saltwater

Super quality inshore rod
September 21, 2018
I was surprised as to the quality of this rod. I have a bunch of Loomis, Shimano, St Croix rods and wanted to give Daiwa a chance. I mostly use it inshore for smaller fish like snapper/cocktail blues, porgies, black sea bass... and so far it’s held up nicely. The action is great and the rod is super sensitive and I’m able to feel faint bites from small fish and it weighs 4 oz!!! Paired it with a 2500 Shimano Stradic Ci4+ and ur arms will thank me.
Pros
  • Sensitive, action weight
Cons
  • Would have liked a longer butt on the gulf coast model but not a deal breaker. Actually forces u to use more of ur drag.

How long is the butt, rear of rod to where the reel sits? I like to tuck the butt under my armpit so having it longer like a Tescata or Trevala would be nice. Similar to how a jigging rod is held. Thanks

10 inches from the reel seat to the butt end
