Exceptionally well built and highly versatile, the Daiwa Harrier X Jigging Spinning Rods are an excellent addition to any saltwater angler's arsenal regardless of what coast they fish on. These multi-purpose rods excel in all forms of jigging and bottom fishing. Whether you are deploying newer techniques like flutter and knife-type jigs, bouncing bucktails or diamond jigs off the bottom, or sticking to the classic "weight and bait" techniques of bottom fishing, the Harrier X Series has the perfect rod for your application. Built on blanks constructed from Daiwa's High Volume Fiber (HVF) carbon technology, the Harrier X achieves the superior strength and rigidity needed for coastal applications while keeping the blank thin and lightweight for comfortable fishing. Also outfitted with Daiwa's X45 Technology, these rods are designed using a 45 degree bias construction that prevents ovalization and twisting of the blank for greater hoop strength under heavy loads. Anglers can expect the appropriate rod to load up nice and evenly for efficient fish fighting, whether its on a Northeastern fluke, a Baja bluefin tuna, or anything in between. All models are fitted with Fuji Tangle-Free K-Guides with Alconite Rings for favorable line management and a Fuji Back Stop Reel Seat that won't loosen during regular use. Sturdy EVA grips provide a sure, comfortable hold on your rod while remaining easy to clean and hold up well over time. If you're looking for the perfect jigging rod to cover multiple different techniques in your respective fishery, the Daiwa Harrier X should be towards the top of your list.

Will a 7ft heavy rod pair with a shimano spheros 10000?

Will be bottom fishing and occasionally throwing poppers.

1 Answer
Evan,

The Shimano Spheros SW 10000 will pair nicely with the Daiwa Harrier X HRX70HS spinning rod for bottom fishing and jigging.  It can be used for throwing poppers, but would not be the first choice.  Usually want longer rod for throwing poppers to tuna.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Would the 7ft heavy pair with a Speros 10000?

Jigging for tuna and throwing poppers?

1 Answer
Evan,

The Shimano Spheros SW 10000 will pair nicely with the Daiwa Harrier X HRX70HS spinning rod for all styles of jigging for tuna.  It will not be optimum setup for throwing poppers, but can be used in a pinch.  Normally want a longer rod for throwing poppers to tuna.  Please let me know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

can i use the 7ft heavy for fluking porgy and black fish as well?
1 Answer
7' Heavy would be a little overkill for fluking, porgy, and black fish. Medium heavy would be a more versatile option

This rod can absolutely handle jigs up to 200-250g, hold on though, these tuna will take you for a ride.
