Specializing in live bait fishing with its unique "Bite & Run" drag system, the Daiwa Free Swimmer Spinning Reels have performance driven features and big fish stopping power. The Free Swimmer features a secondary rear drag system often referred to as a "Live-Liner" or "Bait-Runner" drag. By engaging the rear drag lever, the reel's drag is significantly reduced to allow live baitfish to swim freely on their own, and also allows the target species to take the bait without realizing its been hooked. This system will greatly increase your hook-up percentage when live-lining or even chunking cut baits. The Free Swimmer incorporates some of the latest Daiwa reel technologies to take performance to the next level, including an Air Rotor system that provides balance, toughness, and sensitivity. By redesigning the rotor profile and shedding 15% of its weight, the Air Rotor system offers optimal winding smoothness while eliminating vibration thanks to a lowered center of gravity. The waterproof Advanced Tournament Drag (ATD) ensures smooth drag payout regardless of speed and pressure, while attaining a maximum drag pressure to stop even the toughest beasts in their tracks. The rigid all-aluminum frame combined with the super tough oversized DIGIGEAR system combine for impressive power transmission and longer gear life. Equipped with a large rounded EVA knob for extra leverage and an O-ring sealing system to ensure enduring saltwater performance, the Free Swimmer has everything an angler could ask for when pursuing the absolute toughest challenges their fishery has to offer.

Features:

  • Automatic Bite N' Run Clutch
  • AIR ROTOR
  • Waterproof Carbon Advanced Tournament Drag (ATD)
  • Machined Aluminum Screw in Handle
  • DIGIGEAR Technology
  • Power Round EVA Knob
  • O-Ring Sealed
  • High Waterproof Performance

Im looking at possibility matching a reel up with a Diawa Ardito travel surf rod. They are 11ft or possibly matching one up to okuma 10ft Voyager travel surf rod. What are your thoughts on what size reels for these two rods? Target is stripper up and down the New England coast- keeping it tucked away in a vehicle. Thank you.
1 Answer
Hi Bill, For the 11ft Daiwa Ardito rod we recommend going with the 10k Daiwa Free Swimmer reel and for the 10ft Okuma Voyager rod we recommend the 8k Daiwa Free Swimmer reel. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!
