Great Reel

This reel is extremely smooth. I purchased the 2000 model to fish for trout. I own several reels including several Stellas and this one appears to be a little smoother. I will purchase another size once they are back in stock.
Pros
  • Light weight
  • One piece design
Cons
  • Costly

I had lost faith in Daiwa reels a while back but they have won me back. I own several Shimano Stella's. Daiwa Exist hands down way better in feel, quality, and design. I am planning to replace my high-end reels with these.

Super light reel
January 23, 2020
I have the 2500 xh lt for about two months now, paired with a gloomis nrx 921s inshore rod. Caught over 20 redfish and countless specks with it.. Super light reel that is pleasure to fish all day long.
Pros
  • Super light and powerful drag system for a reel this size.

I think it's better than Shimano Stella FJ...
super light and I like how it retrieves.
Only one thing, I am worried about the bail.
I think the bail will come down over the years.
But, the warranty is excellent!

This reel is a dream to own. had mine for about a year haven't had any issues with it. I dropped it in the water and sent it in for service. They serviced is and shipped it back free of charge. i'm considering a second one.

I give Freshwater Daiwa products three stars because i am biased
September 28, 2018
Their freshwater products seem to be "ok" ,but their saltwater products are terrible.Had mine for a year and so did a friend (bought at the same time). Within the first month had a grinding in the ball bearings. I don't do any beach fishing at all so i assumed that i got salt inside of it and cleaned it to no avail. A week later my friend's reel started doing the same. Now both of these reels were thoroughly cleaned after each use. Luckily another friend of ours knew a Daiwa rep, and we got all of the internals replaced for free. Upon receiving it ,worked great.....for about a month again..... I went as far as to replace the "sealed" ball bearings inside with ceramic ones i bought online, which did help, but has not totally absolved the issue with their crappy bearings grinding and locking up. Maybe in fresh water this will be different and i will be proven wrong, but i doubt shoddy craftsmanship does not transfer over to fresh water also.

what is the difference between the 1000 series and 2000 series reel. is it the same size frame and just the spool is different to hold more line

Yes, the 2000 has a slightly larger spool allowing you to have more line as well as a faster retrieve. They are both light/ultralight in the action of the reels.
