Redesigned for 2022, the Exist G LT returns with the renowned single-piece magnesium Monocoque Body from the previous generation. New to this latest generation is the EXIST Air Drive System that consists of a ZAION Air Drive Rotor, Air Drive Bail, Air Drive Spool, and Air Drive Shaft. Constructed from Daiwa's revolutionary high strength low weight ZAION carbon material, the Air Drive Rotor is 15% lighter, features a screwless design, flush surface, and greatly increased rigidity. This new rotor design provides a rotation that is even more effortless than before for more precise stop-and-go reeling functionality for working lures or reacting to bites. Working in conjunction with the new rotor is the Air Drive Shaft, which offers better stability and power transfer to enhance smoothness. The newly designed Air Drive Bail is lighter than ever and precisely angled to allow seamless transition of line to the line roller. The new Daiwa Exist 22 is very light and smooth. I now have had the 2000 model for about a month and am very impressed with it's performance. I am not sure if it is better then the FJ Stella which I also own, but I think this is the one to get if having to choose between the two. It seems like it is a little beefier in the bail mechanism and the mag sealed bearings are apparently designed to keep the internals of the reel free from water and other contaminants. After dozens bass up to 4-5 pounds as well as many panfish and rainbow trout, I can tell that I will enjoy using this reel for many years.
Pros
- This and the Stella are similar in price and quality. Both are flagship models. Also, I have never had an issue with Tackle Direct and the customer service and product knowledge is great.
Cons
- Don't let your wife or girlfriend know you just spent $850 bucks on another reel.
