I got this reel as an introduction to fishing. I've never spent much on rods and reels but wanted a decent one as my first big purchase. I'm super cheap and definitely wanted as much bang for my buck as I could muster. I was not dissapointed. This reel performs wonderfully. I've been using it to catch bass on topwater. I also used it to fish for flounder while vacationing in Savannah. Overall it has worked flawlessly. Not sure what everyone else is talking about bout concerning the salt water. Love this reel and would definitely buy it again.

Had mine for a year and so did a friend (bought at the same time). Within the first month had a grinding in the ball bearings. I don't do any beach fishing at all so i assumed that i got salt inside of it and cleaned it to no avail. A week later my friend's reel started doing the same. Now both of these reels were thoroughly cleaned after each use. Luckily another friend of ours knew a Daiwa rep., and we got all of the internals replace for free. Upon receiving it the worked great.....for about a month again..... I went as far as to replace the "sealed" ball bearings inside with ceramic ones i bought online, which did help, but has not totally absolved the issue with their crappy bearings grinding and locking up.

Low cost, but not a strong reel.

I purchased 3 reels to be used on a recent trip to Exuma, Bahamas. After several strong runs with 3 to 4 # fish all the drags became very sticky and 2 were not reeling smoothly after. Also, 2 of the 3 had squeaky reeling noise when reeled slowly coming from anti-reverse right out of the box. Tackle Direct Warranty Rep stated these were not for Bonefish. I returned all 3 and am awaiting a refund.

This reel is silky smooth has the air rotor, aluminum body and hold plenty of line for a inshore 4000 series reel. You can't go wrong with the bogo on this reel.

Pick up two of these on the special offer. Very impressed that with so few BB this reel is nice and smooth. So far the drag is good as well. Usually can't go wrong with Daiwa products.

I haven't used it yet but it seems like a great reel. Can't beet it for the price!

First of all thanks to tackledirect for having such a deal. I have the older version of daiwa exceller 4000. Decided to get this newer version. Looks good and lighter perfect match for my 8 ft G loomis. Really happy with this reel and very satisfied. Im very satisfied with tacledirect and their outstanding service.

I have Shimano Stradic 5000 reel that cost me four times as much as the Daiwa Excelier 4500. This spinning reel is a little heavier, but operates just as smoothly as the Shimano I bought three years ago. The shimano is due for an overhaul, and it will cost me over $40.00. I paid $45.00 for this brand new Daiwa(two for the price of one promo) and it is every bit as good as the Shimano. Plus, it holds a hundred yards more of 15# braid. Wonderful bonus to have. I am very happy and satisfied with my Daiwa Excelier, and will recommend it to others, especially at the promotional price.

This was a great deal, smooth, and nice capacity with 30lb braid.

This is a nice reel for the price, have not had a chance to fish it but it looks and feels like a quality reel.
