2500 and 3000
July 23, 2022
So I bought a 2500 and a 3000. I do not recommend going any bigger then the 2500 for bass holds and has enough drag.3000 works great for in shore and that’s just what I use it for I love how it’s corrosion and scratch resistant. Both reel very smooth, pretty light . How ever the only thing I dislike is the switch under the spool that you flip to make the handle spin backwards. I catch myself checking a good bit to make sure it wasn’t bumped and switch specially in the kayak and that it’s not fully sealed. But for the price great buy don’t waste hundreds on others this will work just fine and then some
Pros
  • Light scratch and corrosion resistant reels smooth
Cons
  • Not fully sealed and the switch under the reel to make the handle spin backwards

Outstanding!!! `

First, I would say that I HIGHLY recommend these reels. I own two of them in a 4000 and 3000 series for inshore fishing. I use them catching spanish mackerel off a pier, to landing 30 plus inch redfish on the surf and flats. I have submerged them in saltwater and used them without a problem! i have also tested them offshore for peanut size mahi and small blackfin tuna, and they worked great! for a very low cost reel, it is very worth the money!
Pros
  • Price
  • durability
  • Low maintenance
  • Line capacity for braid
Cons
  • Not fully sealed

How does this compare to the BG? Very similar price range between the two.
1 Answer
Shea,

The Daiwa Eliminator spinning reel would be a step down from the Daiwa BG spinning reel.  Both are good reels that can handle the saltwater and have similar specs for the same size reel.  It's just the Daiwa BG has a couple more upgrades over the Daiwa Eliminator.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
