Redesigned and upgraded with some of Daiwa's premier technologies, the Daiwa Ballistic LT MQ Spinning Reels set a new standard for spinning reels in their class. The Ballistic LT MQ further enhances Daiwa's "Light and Tough" concept by implementing their signature Monocoque Body (MQ) design for even more power in a more compact frame. A feature brought down from Daiwa's flagship level of spinning reels, Monocoque Body refers to the use of a one-piece frame and reel body. A single piece body allows for exceptional strength and rigidity, improved water resistance with the absence of screws, and significant weight reduction. Perhaps best of all, the MQ frame design provides better spatial efficiency and allows for a larger gear to fit inside of the reel, adding power and longevity to the gear set. The frame is built from a new material called Zaion-V; a more easily machined compound than Daiwa's standard Zaion. Very similar in function to Zaion, Zaion-V is extremely durable, lightweight, corrosion resistant, and can be implemented into a wider range of reels. The Ballistic LT MQ features a Magsealed main shaft for exceptional durability and resistance to water intrusion. With sizes ranging from 1000 to 4000, this new generation of Daiwa Ballistic is poised to handle anything from freshwater fishing for bass or walleye to inshore fishing for powerful game fish along any coast.

Features:

  • Monocoque (MQ) Zaion-V Body
  • Magsealed Main Shaft
  • Zaion-V Air Rotor
  • Air Bail
  • Tough Digigear
  • Machined Aluminum Screw-in Handle
  • Ball Gearing Supported Advanced Tournament Drag (ATD)

Great reel … light weight
May 25, 2022
This reel is light weight and has great spool capacity… better capacity than what Daiwa is offering in Japan. Well made, smooth and quiet reel. I use it for surfcasting paired with a Shimano 11 f M rod.
Pros
  • Light weight
  • Smoothness
  • Heavy bail wire
Cons
  • Maybe better sealing? IP6 level preferred

Which is a better reel?  Ballistic LT MQ 3000 compared to the Saltist 3000 MQ??
1 Answer
Hi John, The Daiwa BLSMQLT3000D Ballistic LT MQ Spinning Reel and Daiwa SALTISTMQ3000D-XH Saltist MQ Spinning Reel are very similar. However, The Daiwa SALTISTMQ3000D-XH Saltist MQ Spinning Reel has a littlle heavier aluminum frame and a aluminum round handle knob. With the little weight difference this gives the reel little more rigidity and durability than the Ballistic LT MQ for saltwater fishing and would be a ideal choice for any saltwater fishing application. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

How does the 3000 Ballistic LT MQ compare in size with the Saltist 3000 MQ?
1 Answer
Dennis,

The Daiwa Ballistic MQ and Saltist MQ 3000 reels are very similar in size, as the spool size / line capacity is the same,  The Saltist weighs about 2oz more.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
