Great rod, until it broke
March 30, 2021
The action on this rod is superb, but it is not the most durable. It did make it through a trip to the Philippines, then broke out on the Bay. :(

Great Travel rod, only used for one trip

Great rod but I have only used it for one trip so I don't know the longevity of it. Seemed to have good action.

Excellent Choice For Traveling
December 8, 2020
I use to own a 3pc Gloomis GLX travel rods. I bought one of these for my son so we could fish together. I ended up selling the Gloomis and used the money to buy another rod and a reel.
Pros
  • Great value for the price
Cons
  • A mark or indicator to make guide alignment quicker.
  • Purely cosmetic, the casting model could have been blue to match the Coastal Reels.

Perfect travel rod

I love the quality of this rod. Light yet strong. The detail and machining on the threading is appreciated. I like that the case is light but sturdy. Looking forward to taking this on a canoe trip to the boundary waters.

ARDT703MHFS-TR Get it done!
June 25, 2020
So i've traveled to Europe, Florida and mexico with this thing and never had an issue or incurred cost in traveling with the rod tube that it comes with as carry on. Not much experience with travel rods to be honest but this has good sensitivity and backbone and just plain works.

For the price point i think Daiwa has done a great job with the Ardito...if i'm ever in the market for a travel surf rod that's compact i will definitely look to diawa make it happen.

Perfect travel rod

This rod fits any avid angler who struggles to transport their gear. Easily fits as carry on for flights and doesn't lose any power from being a 3 piece rod.

Fish All the Time
December 3, 2018
I bought one of these and leave it in my car. At least a couple times a week, I hit ponds on the way home from work. I also take it hiking, camping, and on vacations. Any time I see a lake or stream, I can stop and fish a bit. I can cast small spinners, senkos, spinnerbaits, cranks. It's a good middle-of-the-road rod, that doesn't excel at anything, but does everything well enough. Bass, pike, bream, crappie and trout have all been caught. It's well worth the money.
Pros
  • Good case, small, can fit in a backpack, looks discreet for when fishing urban ponds.
Cons
  • None so far.

Whether you're on a family holiday or a hardcore fishing trip these will do the job
October 12, 2018
I have a few of these in both the 7'0 Casting and 7'0 Spinning models and they are fantastic travel rods. I travel a fair amount to fish and only taking fly rods previously it does limit your fishing somewhat.

Much to the annoyance of my other half I can now take a decent rod with me whenever we go away in case an opportunity presents itself and more often than not I do find some time to throw a few lures even if it does mean waking up at the crack of dawn.

I've also taken these rods to the Amazon where they stood up to some serious scrutiny from some pretty big peacock bass. It's great to find a good quality rod a decent price. My main complaints with 3+ piece rods in the past is you can either get quality or you can save money and until now these were mutually exclusive.

Pros
  • Good quality
  • Balanced
  • Great action for a travel rod
  • Flex Ferrules(was unsure about the claims and may be my imagine but not as much of a dead spot as other travel rods)
  • Price
Cons
  • non to report so far

Daiwa ARDT763MHFS-TR Ardito
September 18, 2018
Bought this for travel for a future trip. Rod is of high quality and as advertised. I do not see any issues that I will have traveling with this unless TSA decides poles are now deadly weapons.
Pros
  • Good length for travel. Rod connects well to other pieces. Did some testing of the rod & reel with some different lures and it is a nice little traveling rod.
  • One of a few (to only) rods that are able to bridge the range of lure weights that I am looking to use. The bulk of the other rods have a much lighter and more restricted range of lure weights.
Cons
  • A bit on the pricey side.

Excellent value for money
April 14, 2016
Excellent construction, light weight, very good casting performance, good action, feels like a 2 piece rod not a 3 piece and the travel case makes it an excellent value for money. Size, line rating and casting weight makes it suitable for use both in freshwater and inshore saltwater applications. Pair it up with a 3000 or light 4000 size reel for the best balance.
Pros
  • Casts accurate and far
  • Lightweight
  • Perfect for travel by air
Cons
  • Wish a heavier category was also available, but thats not a con just lack of options in this range.

light and strong

I bought the Ardito travel rod to fish with got-chas, small plugs and jigs. Due to its lenght it casts really long. It is a light but Strong rod, caught jacks, pompanos and big tilapias (freshwater). I definetely recommend it!
Pros
  • easy to carry, light, nice foregrip

How do I know which model to select?
1 Answer
Our website breaks each model down by the specifics. Spinning or Casting. 7 ft or 7' 6. Medium or Medium Heavy. 3 piece or 5 +1. Also line rating, lure rating and # of guides. Depending on what you are doing and what you are fishing for will help you better chose the best model for your application. Lure rating is important, you do not want to throw a lure or lead that is heavier than what the rod is recommended to handle.  Lighter applications go with the medium, heavier applications go with a medium heavy.
