This rod seems to lack backbone. It does not cast as one would expect from a rod at this price. Forget this rod if you target bull drum or larger species in the surf.

Pros
  • It looks great. Has top of the line components
Cons
  • Wimpy, not much back bone

Wide applications

I needed a single rod for throwing from light bucktails and metals to the big double hook swim shads that I could also use for chunking. Very happy I went with the 1SPOBD! It'll work with 3/4 ounce tins, but the sweet spot is above an ounce. It'll launch a big sinker a mile, and is also a great plug rod. My 706z weighs more than the rod, so the only downside is that I now have a good excuse to buy a $900 reel.
Pros
  • Weight range, sensitivity, extremely long casts. I can use one rod for 75% of my surf fishing.

Beautiful but not perfect

I use it for striper and sturgeon around Sacramento region. I able to cast out far enough but haven’t caught a big fish to test the rod ability though.
Pros
  • Flexible but strong
Cons
  • Pricey

Worth the money

It’s kind of expensive rod when you see the price but after you have the rod in your hands it’s a different story. I have the 11.3 1-6 oz. it feels different to other rods I have, but I realize that you really can cast far on 1 oz to 4 whit 40# line. I fish for strippers on a very strong water currents and whit this rod I have no problem landing a big one. Is not super light like g- rods but it’s way better and way stronger. Really god rod
Pros
  • Strong, light, very well balanced
Cons
  • Warranty its very limited my st Croix legend its way better and about the same price
