If you fish, you will love these

This is the best hock remover I have ever had. I had some long nose pliars that I loved and used all the time but these 11.5 inch ones with the pistol grip can't be beat!
Pros
  • Good length at 11.5 and pistol grips make it the best you can buy.

Best hook remover

I like to catch and release most of the time, and I've used many different hook removers. My multi-hook lures are singles and barbless in back to make extraction easier, but they can be deep in the gullet and difficult to reach in bigger fish with teeth. The lightweight stainless removers are good, but not great with embedded larger hooks deep in as they can't withstand much twisting action. These long nosed pliers on long angled grips have proven to be the best, never fail, hook remover. Nowadays I use them while wading Florida flats, knee to waist deep. Landing and releasing larger redfish, Jacks, and the occasional Cobia needs to be as quick and efficient as possible with those fish trashing around your legs on a lip-grip. If these pliers can't handle the situation it's time to cut the line if the fish is to live on. They weigh about twice as much as their nearest competitors but I haven't been bothered by that. I tie on 30" of nylon cord, one end looped on a waist belt and, If wearing waders Dec-Apr, I just hang them inside the wader top for easy access. Wet wading I attach them to my shoulder bag strap. (A grommet in the strap with a small loop of cord and the pliers insert through the loop and just hang there ready for action). I can also remember times when trying to get trebles out of larger Muskies and Northerns where these pliers would have been the solution; I bet they'd work well on those fish also.
Pros
  • Strong, long, withstand twisting action, ergonomic grip.
Cons
  • Heavier then lightweight stainless models.
