The patented BogaGrip is a high quality fish landing, handling and weighing tool. With easy, one-handed operation the BogaGrip handles fish by encompassing the fish's lower jawbone and works on most species of fish. Model 130 will easily handle 30 pound fish; model 315 will handle 15 pound fish.
All metal parts are stainless steel and all plastic parts are made of black acetal, which is a high performance engineering thermoplastic that is used in unlubricated bearing applications. Acetal is tough and very resistant to UV light. You'll find the BogaGrip to be very strong and resistant to conditions encountered while fishing in fresh or saltwater.

Each BogaGrip's scale is calibrated with certified weights to insure accuracy within one increment. You can send your BogaGrip to IGFA (954-927-2628 Dania Beach, FL) where they can certify it for world record catches.

BogaGrip features four functions acting together that makes it such a handy fishing tool.
  • Jaws are arranged such that the weight of the fish will cause the jaws to shut even tighter
  • Locking mechanism keeps jaws in their tightest position
  • Swivel motion eliminates torque from a spinning fish
  • Shock absorber dampens a fish's attempt to get free
Additional features:
  • Great for catch & release fishing - weigh and photograph your fish in a short amount of time
  • Keeps hands dry in cold weather
  • Easy maintenance; long lasting durability
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Scales embossed in stainless steel tubing for durability
  • Fits in most tackle boxes
  • Made in the U.S.A.

Great when it works

I have had the 30lb for one summer. I used it to pick up a 60” musky over 40lbs. I am not sure if that was way too big but now It will no longer grip a smaller trout. I had to bend back the metal pinch to realign them so they will grip again. I bought these assuming they were built like tanks.

However, these make life easy and I often do not use a net. They grab and weigh is very handy. They are way overpriced. That said, I still ordered the 60lb recently for all the trophies I hope to catch. Three stars for being way overpriced and that it bent out of shape even though I love using them.
Pros
  • Easy grab, no need for a net
  • Easy instant weight reading
Cons
  • I had a 30lb model and used it on a 60?, 40+lb muskie and it bent the clamps. It stopped holding fish until I bent the clamps back into perfect alignment.

BIGGER THAN EXPECTED

Had to take away a star for the price and for not having some sort of pouch. It’s too big and too expensive with nothing extra. I would only recommend the smaller ones because of there price
Pros
  • Ok for saltwater
Cons
  • Expensive

Excellent quality product, but not without cons.

These are without a doubt, truly excellently built, quality, American-made products. Overbuilt, durable, and absolutely no issues with corrosion after many uses, even after a few trips where I could not readily get it cleaned up with fresh water.

I do have to say, however, that specifically for use in the surf on sandy beaches, it does have issues with sand. Sandy spray from the wash will spray over the grip, and it is very easy for sand to get into the internals, due to the large openings. Also, in heavy winds where sand from the beach gets kicked up, sand will also find its way into the grip, making it very unreliable and gritty. Getting a belt sheath/case that keeps the boga covered will help prevent this when fishing from the surf. With all this said, however, I have been able to get the grip back to perfect condition after each trip by spraying into the internals with a hose. All the sand eventually gets flushed out after a couple minutes and it works/feels fine afterwards without having to disassemble.

Overall, I would totally recommend for boat/jetty fishing. Just be aware it's not the best with sand in the surf, but again, a sheath should keep it protected.

Worth it.

Been waiting to buy this for sometime. Went through many cheaper boat scales over that time. This thing is accurate and helpful for landing fish. Also useful for steadying the fish while you remove hooks from the mouth.
Pros
  • Can get an accurate weight on trophy fish on the boat and release them.
Cons
  • Needed to buy a separate bouy ball for floatation in case it goes over board.
