Blue Water Candy Roscoe lures are perfect for freestyle vertical jigging or as some call it, Yo-Yo jigging, this technique has become extremely popular in the past few years. Blue Water Candy Lures developed the Roscoe just for bottom fishing with freestyle jigging gear. It resembles a squid and is designed to be used with assist style hooks and rings. The main body is painted in light emitting pearl GLOW with several accent colors available to choose from. There is a small fin on the backside to help the jig cut through the water quickly. While designed for bottom fishing, during product testing we noticed that it worked equally well in the middle of the water column too! Great for Grouper and other bottom dwellers as well as AmberJacks, Tuna, Dolphin and other fish that feed on squid. It uses a 500# kevlar leader and premium hook and includes the split and solid rings.

Decent bottom jig

I used a few Roscoe's snapper fishing this past summer and had mixed results. The bonita really loved them and I did catch a few snapper but generally had better luck with other slow pitch jigs when targeting snapper and grouper. Also, after a few fish 50% of the paint was gone. For the price of these lures the paint should be a little more durable in my opinion. Still a good jig but I think better options are out there.

Versatile yet easy to loose.

Versatile jig for all of your bottom reef dwellers. For me, it works well with King Fish in the Gulf. I have caught several. However, it does get chewed up a bit with the toothy fish. Also, be mindful when dropping it down to the bottom, especially on structure. It is quite easy to snag. A bit pricey to leave on the bottom. Just let it out slow and take a turn or 2 on the reel when reaching the bottom. I rig it with a Fluro leader with a barrel swivel at the terminus. Then rig a split ring to the jig and onto the swivel. Seems to work best when able to spin 360*. And you can feel the vibration in the rod when working it vertical jigging. It works with a variety of bottom fish as advertised.
Pros
  • Versatile
  • Can feel it working through the rod
Cons
  • Easy to snag on structure
