Berkley Vanish has become the top-selling mainline fluorocarbon in the U.S. and Canada. Berkley has been continuously improving the Vanish formula since it was introduced 15 years ago. Easy casting Berkley Vanish is one of the great values in 100% fluorocarbon line.
  • Remains clear underwater - 100% fluorocarbon refracts light similar to water
  • Sinks underwater - more sensitive and a more direct profile from rod tip to lure
  • Superior Wet Strength - Non-absorbing fluorocarbon maintains strength and abrasion resistance underwater
  • Flexible - Most fluorocarbons are stiff, Vanish is more flexible

Good fluoro
May 17, 2020
Years ago I was using Stren flouro for stocked trout fishing, shad and sometimes bass (from bank) however decided to tried Berkley Vanish and I got better results, mostly in terms of abrasion resistance and knot strength. I always keep a spool of 8lb and 10lb in my tackle box.
Pros
  • Good abrasion resistance, fair price

decent fluoro

Not sure if it's because of my 500 size spool but it has a lot of memory but manageable. I was looking for some trout line in the 4lb weight while I was getting into trouting and this line suited my needs for stream fishing

This is the only brand i use for leader. Its my go to for yellow tailing. Just like the name says, this stuff vanishes into the water. not to mention you get 250 yrds of Fluoro for a great price. Tight Lines!
Pros
  • Works great on spooky fish

I spoiled 4 reels up, wasn’t on for more than a week when I hit the first tournament. Line has TERRIBLE memory. Spend the extra money and buy better quality line.

2-8 or 10-20 what does this mean i use 6 lb  8 strand crystal fire line  for walleye so witch one would i use for leaders and why i have never used fluorocarbon line be for thanks for your

time

1 Answer
Hi John, 2-8lb and 10-20lb refer to the lb test breaking strength of the line. The Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon is intended to be used as a mainline and not intended to be used for leaders. Instead I would recommend Seaguar 12FC25 Fluorocarbon Leader Material. https://www.tackledirect.com/seaguar-12fc25-fluorocarbon-leader-material-25yd.html This is 12lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon leader material and would be ideal for fishing walleye and other fresh water species. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

IS THIS LINE MATERIAL OR LEADER WHICH IS MORE ABRASION RESISTANCE?
1 Answer
This fluorocarbon is main line, you could certainly use as leader if needed however. Leader is generally a little more abrasion resistant.
