This is my largest rail rod setup. I put Hollow core 135 pound backing to a 200 pound leader for party boat fishing out of San Diego. The real is a beast, looking to land the fish of a life time and have less that an hour fight. Used with Flat fall and knife jigs.
Pros
- Narrow rigs the fits prefect in the palm of my hand
- Heavy line capacity and great retrieval rate
- industry setting drag
- Note I have the 30EX and JX Raptor as well.
Cons
- A little heavy for all day fishing, so might want have a belt and shoulder harness to move in an out of.

This American made reel is made for the big hauls. It is full of power, very sleek and easy to use. I am a Charter Captain and I would put this reel against any other reel out there. Once you hook a big one, knowing this reel will put in the work and get it in quick is a great comfort. It’s a big investment. However, we’ll worth its price to know, that it will do its job and do it well!

I use this reel mainly for land based shark fishing and it has been really good so far. I like that I can get 100+ lbs. of drag in an 80W, however I will probably not every need that much. The reel has a lot of cranking power and I wouldn't hesitate buying another one.

I purchased this to fit my Barrett rod for surf fishing for sharks. Had an issue with the clam to connect it to my rod but I called AVET and they sent me everything needed for nothing. AVET has to be the BEST reel company to deal with.
Pros
- Huge, and fits a lot of line
- Cant beat the customer service for AVET or Tackle Direct.
Cons
- Its a big real and doesn't usually come with the bigger bottom clamp. However, if you call AVET they will send the big one that bolts with 4 bolts instead of the 2.

This reel is the real deal, looks and feels heavy duty without being overbearing. Smooth reel, two speed is the way to go. The clicker is extremely loud so you won't miss the bite. Drag is ridiculous, easily lands large sharks with no issues or strain. I bought it for land based shark fishing and it is exactly what I needed for larger class fish.

This reel is a tank. The drag is super smooth and the line capacity is great. The clicker takes a bit to get use to if you’ve been fishing with Penn Senators for a long time like I have. It’s not a bad clicker, just different. I will definitely be buying a 2nd one in the future..

The Avet TrX is a great reel. I use my 80w for land based shark fishing and goliath grouper. It has 121 pounds of drag with is just crazy. The only reel I know with more drag is the $2450 Everol 20/0, which is almost 3 times as much. It is also very high quality and is available in many colors.
