The Avet SXJ G2 6/4 2-Speed Reel is part of Avet's Generation 2 (G2) Series, which fills in the line class gap between Avet's original and Raptor series. Avet's Generation 2 Reels add impressive new features, like an updated frame with new look and feel, 40% more drag output, increased line capacity, and a ratcheting Glide Plate/Lever System (Select Models Only), making the Avet SXJ G2 6/4 2-Speed Reel a great choice for your next fishing trip.
Avet G2 Series Features:
- Redesigned frame with new refined look and feel
- Ratcheting Glide Plate/Lever System (Select Models Only), with positive button release stop at strike position, just like the Raptor Series
- Faceted, knurled drag knob and lever grip provide tactile feel and positive grip
- Increased line capacities like the Raptor Series, allow generous space for appropriate larger line classes
- Refined, silent, reliable, dog and Gear Anti-Reverse System, with more gear teeth and minimal handle back-play
- 40% more drag output, bridging the line-class-gap between the original and Raptor series
- Made in USA , compact, strong drag systems
- Sometime the wait times for the reel to be made can be weeks.
Kind of makes it hard to put my trust in it.
- Smooth drag curve
- Feels maxed out at pretty low drag setting
- Perfect bucktailing reel!

- I specifically chose this version of the SXJ G2 reel for the NGP/No Glide Plate "feature". The glide plate goes under the drag lever and ensures positive clicks at all positions of the drag. If you plan to fish this reel with the lever in various positions other than free/strike/full, then you should ensure you get the standard G2. But if you, like me, intend to use this reel almost exclusively for bottom fishing where you are either in strike or free and want to quickly go from one to the other, the clicks on a G2 with a glide plate can get really annoying.
- I don't think an Avet is going to win the "smoothest reel of the year award", but that's what you get with big nearly indestructible internals. Does wear in nicely.
