Just got back from fishing in Mexico using this Avet reel for the 1st time on a Med Heavy Star Rod. Easily reeled in a 35 lb wahoo and 20 lb yellowfin tuna. Did take some trial and error to dial in the right drag set up for strike and full.

I did not think I would like the G2 so much, but it's honestly my go to reel, I through jigs with this reel.
I have 100lb spectra on this.

- Mc part isn?t comfortable in my hand the way I hold the rod. But when your fishing for 3 days straight and your catching tuna, you forget about that real quick.

This Avet MXL is a great reel. Very smooth and casts farther than my spinning reel. The magic cast works great. Only took me 3 casts to dial it in. I would definitely recommend it to any of my friends.

Item looks pretty solid. Got the neptunes heart vice the silver one. Had two LXs for quite a while. With a discount price, can’t beat this deal. Very satisfied.

You can use the Avet MXL G2 5.8 MC (RH or LH) with a 7ft rod as a live bait setup. You want the MC (magic cast) to be able to pitch baits easier. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

The MC model stands for Magic Cast which is Avets magnetic braking system allowing for easy and smoother casts without having to thumb the spool and worrying about birdsnesting your reel on casts like with other manufacturers

The G2 Avets are not currently available in left hand. The standard series Avets are available in left hand but silver is the only color option.

Looking for a light compact reel to be used for light tackle game fishing in Cairns Australia. Running braid backing with a 6 - 10kg topshot. Mahi mahi, mackerel, small black marlin, sails etc, reel will also be used as a switchbait reel for sails and floating livebaits for Spanish mackerel. How do you think this reel would suit. Cheers
