Simply place your thumb on the spool to cast, swing, remove your thumb from the spool and let it fly! You will only need to thumb the spool when the lure hits the water.

Got to use the avet mxj star drag for the first time yesterday. This small reel is a beast, caught big red snapper, Aj’s and etc all day. Got it on a Ugly stick jigging rod, awesome setup light weight, but very strong.
